An Issue Regarding Sexism with the Game/Forums

I did say the thread was a safe space. Thanks for sharing.

I would like to argue it was done unintentionally.

I understand this probably does not make me popular, but I never cared about that. I am doing my best here but I am only one person and I do not have a slew of forumers to go off of when I make my points.

That is fine, just be careful.

It doesn’t need to be a popular opinion to be presented without calling out every male forumer, I don’t think it’s fair to say you’ve been treated so poorly to warrant a statement like that.

I understand if it was unintentional, but just, choose your words more carefully, especially if you want your audience to listen.

You know I am really trying. So tell me. What would help you listen?

I just don’t fully understand what you’re wanting us to get at here.

Have I or the others here been discriminatory to females? Have we done something that you believes warrants change? What exactly is the problem with the forums that you want to address?

I’ve listened to the message in your post, and considering your thoughts, provided my opinion on the situation. I may not fully agree with your perspective but that doesn’t mean I haven’t listened to it, and I think others feel the same.

Not this one.

Yes. I can elaborate, just not at the moment.

Alright, then I will wait until you are ready.

Honestly who cares, just play the game lol. We’ve all been bullied at one stage or another for all sorts of different reasons and from all sorts of different people. That’s just a risk when you socialise. I still love the game though lol.

In my personal experience, male gamers tend to well, be not polite about women and the purpose they believe they serve,
But that’s probably not unique to gamers, I’ve seen some men espouse those same views in real life.

And they assume because I’m male, I share those views, to which my response is often rather withering, the game character is not here to serve that purpose, but rather to be a means to play the game.
I even had one player abuse me viciously for using my female character in a costume that was full metal body armor.

I think I am going to try to point out and explain the meaning I have behind what I said in the original post to do this and touch on this later. The intentions behind what I said which will hopefully help clear up misunderstanding. Thanks for the patience.

I am not happy this was flagged and I really do not understand why. You win though because I am not talking about this anymore and I will go back to staying silent. Also, you may want to know I am leaving the forums for personal reasons and so I can focus on my real life which is way more important.

The thing is, I don’t think anybody does disagree. Nobody is like, ew no we don’t want diversity, males only pls DH :stuck_out_tongue: Everybody here would appreciate more diversity in the game, or at the least wouldn’t really care either way. The people debating the other side of the argument just don’t think the discrepancy / ratio is as serious an issue as some have suggested. So there’s no need for any ill will from anyone towards one view or the other, aside from the couple of people spamming - this looks like it’s actually been quite a thoughtful & sensible debate. :man_shrugging:

Why was this flagged? In all seriousness, it shouldn’t be.

Well, I don’t have anything to say except the logic that old princesses shouldn’t come to the game because they never do anything that skillset worthy in there movies is wrong because skills don’t always have to be based entirely on there films. I remember that conversation pop up somewhere before.

Does Aurora have a TV series I missed somewhere?

They could be their Wreck It Ralph versions

Pretty sure he doesn’t.

Wait, lemme fix it

Fixed!

I suppose I can understand what you mean to a extent. But I don’t feel we need more female characters tbh.
The reason is Disney doesn’t do them well. Disney princesses recently are supposed to be the hero of their story entirely and leave the male characters out. Here are the two Disney princess stories.

Princess is upset, goes somewhere, kinda annoying song, meets prince, falls in love, villain she meets early on comes back, prince saves her, they then live happily ever after.
2.
Princess is upset, has something she really needs to do to save her kingdom or village (along those lines) meets man that she doesn’t need, but for some reason let’s go with them, finds a villain that is keeping her home from what it was. Man tries to help fails, then princess has to do all the work because why not?

I feel as Aladdin and Princess & the frog are the only differences.
These female characters either are a support, which are from story 1. And damage from story 2. So either be helpless or unbelievably inaccurate.
But then you see non-Princess Disney characters. They are either kinda cool, or incredibly boring IMO we have most of the cooler ones. So I feel as if Disney needs to do a better job with this then PB.

Okay, so, I agree with this
Not many female Disney characters fight
It is just how it is

Yeah, okay cool. There are millions of young boys and men who are mega Disney fans as well.

Okay yes. I have experienced this plenty as well. But that is not Disney nor PB’s fault. Its just people trying to be rude. Keep in mind. There is a block button in the game, and a mute on the forums. Lots of these people are kids, and don’t understand that this is wrong. So tell them or block
They can’t learn if no one teaches them. And their parents probably won’t do it because they don’t know they have to.

Though I will say, PB has done it well, adding decent Disney characters with their own skills. But Disney is the one that has made it like this. This is Disney heroes Battle mode. 100% fighting and support. No in between.

Though if you want ways to have the community help with avoiding sexism in chats.

  1. Make another post (probably in the lounge) where we could all try to get some ideas in.

I know people have already gone basically over everything I said. But that is what I think of this

I am not trying to be offensive either.

i also agree that this issue is a problem i agree on a lot of the paragraph great job @Imagineer_V

Well, I specifically want Ariel to arrive ingame, regardless of her status as an older princess.
As I showed earlier, she is more confrontatitional then the other princesses.

Also, excluding Ariel would not be a wise decision, The Little Mermaid fans already have a great deal of resentment built up because she’s almost ignored by Disney, in spite of the fact her movie saved the studio from economic failure.

@Tragic-Magic
My biggest resentment with the game is that they’re ignoring what I call “expanded universe” when looking for skills.
They’ve already seriously stuffed up one character because they didn’t consider/acknowledge his expanded universe skills and when Gogo comes out, her skillset will likewise be compromised because her two key skills should come from the expanded universe area.

So what are we talking about here ? The lack of female heroes in game ?

If so then maybe if people are patient and look at the next lot of Disney releases you will a great opportunity to add more female heroes

Raya ( Raya and the last dragon)

Cruella Deville ( Cruella )

Mirabelle ( Encanto)

Ariel ( The little marmaid remake)

I’m sure there are other support female’s in other upcoming movies that could be added

These are just the main one of the top of my head

@Tilarta you made a post that is off-topic that is not what we are talking about we are talking about regarding the issue on diversity and why it’s an issue

I agree, but the game is testing my patience. We are not just talking about that though. I am also trying to address sexism that I find in the community of players and forumers. I have kept trying to shift focus to that, but that does not want to happen for some reason.
