Contest Observation

that comment was generalized. surely you don’t think this thread pertained to only you.

I get that lowering arena is helpful to weaker players, but it’s not an intended form of game play during the last week of arena (especially in challenger arenas where rewards are at stake) and during an arena specific contest. Ignoring my main concern, or pointing to how it’s helpful, or gives others a chance, or different from last week, or or or etc. doesn’t change the facts and observations I and others in this thread have made. I never asked for a punishment for anyone(which is more than I can say for all the complainers last week)…I only want a fix so that it can be done fairly in the future. I also want acknowledgment from Loutre on this issue and information to be disseminated accordingly for the future. I don’t understand why that’s so hard to comprehend.

If you might be wondering why Loutre hasn’t responded to your questions yet, it’s because Perblue doesn’t work on the weekends so I wouldn’t expect an answer until tomorrow.

Bann them all for 3 days, its cheating… using a loop…

Just to say, this is my standing in the contest in server 5 as a person who are just after the Progress Rewards and then done:

Based on my experience who has Hercules and Meg up, and with Meg I can have 1 low character Hercules character so I am pretty I would likely have been able to get all the Progress Rewards as it was pretty easy :-).
Just a matter of how many days I had to do as I managed to get all the Progress Rewards on day 2 of the contest so I otherwise would likely have managed on day 3-5 if the Arena lines wasn’t lowered.

While yes it is likely a few, few who take full advantage of the lowered Arena power, but most like me likely mainly just tries to get the Progress Rewards and then done, if not trying to get 10%-1%.
Not sure if I will am for getting higher than 25%, but yeah probably not going to try to go over 1% if not 5% at least.

Just thought I add this in for perspective :-).

THIS IS HOW IT IS INTENDED.

Contests aren’t just for top players.

You benefit with more gold gain while others with easier arena targets.

Following your logic you’re manipulate contest as well as you have more gold as others.

You did not follow any of my logic if this is your conclusion. Nice try though.

I am aware, which is why I keep referring back to that.

Kira, I hear you. I just want you to know overall, I get that and am not necessarily against that. However, this affects multiple areas. I know my position comes across petty, but it’s a legit question. Generally speaking, I’m a go with the flow kind of player, but a precedent has been set and I think it needs to cover all areas of potential manipulation/unintended use/whatever you want to label it. Again, not asking for punishments or anything unreasonable, just a fix or something. Not trying to upset anyone.

Hum… .

I see your point as well technically, but yeah overall as a F2P player I don’t really to experience the highest level of play, so I don’t know how much lowering lines actually affect things.

I am interested in hearing with Loutre says as well, so we have this on the clear.

I personally think it is a grey zone thing maybe, like not 100% intended, but not outright wrong to do either and it boosts player moral. It is just during the Arena contests so otherwise all players I usually see have their lines as strong as possible. My thoughts at least.

And triple rewards, possibly more; PerBlue said they only suspended players who had collected at least three sets of progress rewards for the contest.

First of all, there’s always been players who put out weaker defenses in the final week or two of the season, stacking them instead with heroes who revive or otherwise stall in order to deny opponents the quick win points; is that something you feel is unfair?

Second, everyone in the arena division has a chance to beat a player who’s lowered their defenses, except for that very player. You’ve got seven players running single-hero defenses in your division? You’ve got seven easy quick wins; they each have only six. They may have an easier time getting more points than usual, but I don’t see how that gives them a “huge advantage” in getting higher ranks, except for being able to place higher than players who apparently just do two or three fights over the course of the week for whatever reason.

Third, I thought you were complaining specifically about this contest, yet you keep bringing up arena rankings as well. Do you want lower defenses banned just for this contest, or in general? How would such a ban even work?

Personally, I’d say the main difference is that this is people acting individually to help others get one set of progress rewards, while the actions last guild contest were people acting in collaboration in order to get themselves multiple sets of progress rewards.

I don’t claim to know PerBlue’s position on the former (though the only way to stop it is to stop having contests that reward points for arena fights); the latter, though, is obviously not how the contest progress rewards were intended to be given.

I do not see any issues with players putting in weaker heroes to the arena to help others progress in the contest.

No one is abusing anything here to get multiple rewards and this appears to be fine.

Thanks for the answer Loutre and appreciate it :-).

@Loutre its not about getting multiple rewards. Did you read all of my messages. It’s been an ongoing discussion and it’s clearly affecting arena and contest.

Can you please let me know how I can tell what is and is not acceptable forms of play within the game? Clearly in arena challenger Div 2 people would not be putting up single heroes for kicks. This is obviously a contest go around.

A precedent was set and stated several times that unintended forms of game play to manipulate contest results would be unacceptable. This affects contest and arena rewards. There were bans for multiple rewards, got that. Not asking for any bans since we’re talking one set of rewards. Stated that many times. Just Asking for you to be consistent in applying your game logic. We’re supposed to know what vague things are and are not acceptable and we’re held accountable with no chance to make a change before hand. I’m just asking for consistency on your part.

I do not see any issues with this.

I understand that from your statement. Can you specifically address my concerns though? I have posed several questions and would like some specific information

I think what they are pointing towards are the end rewards in the Arena season and similar, like the contest affecting who get those rewards potentially.

In my view this is a secondary effect and likely not intended by the contest lower-ers, but yeah I think this is what they are thinking about.

@loutre has spoken, said it’s acceptable and no issues as majority of players I feel should be the response. That should be the end of discussion and closed thread as that was the main point to your post as many of us are reading it as.

Difference in placing in arena is a total diffrent issue and changing of the subject. Everyone has the ability to ask on their server if people can help out and lower defenses or not. Again I’m sorry if people aren’t helping you out on yours. The diffrence in a couple of gems for placing in final arena week again doesn’t matter since we all get resetted to lowest tier after the week is up. It’s not like an extra 10 gems going to help you buy more stamania etc.

Let us all stop comparing apples and oranges (single people lowering defenses to help people get single tier rewards vs single people getting all rewards joining another guild get same rewards and potential repeat).

Let people enjoy the game and get their tiers in a contest like this as many don’t get all tiers in ftn. Complaining about people working together to help one another to get single rewards in a contest comes off as an elitist to some of us, and frankly makes the forums come off as toxic which I don’t believe is it’s intent. Let’s just drop it already and enjoy the game.
