I used to play on my DS a lot too. It’s where I discovered a lot of good series. Digimon, Castlevania, Bomberman, Dragon Ball, and Phoenix Wright were all great.
I think I’ve played through Digimon World DS and Castlevania: Dawn of Sorrow each at least twice through. And they’re not short games.

Firstly: love that every enemy drops a soul. Every enemy. Everything having a potential loot drop = being fine with having to kill things over and over again.

And then being able to spend them to sort of “craft” new weapons is great. Nothing particularly grindy with requiring different souls for one weapon or multiple of the same, no. You get one copy of the right soul, and you’re able to turn your brass knuckles into a cestus or whatnot. It’s beautiful.
