Why isn’t there new challenges every Wednesday? When will this change?

A while back PB put out a poll asking whether people enjoyed the Weekly Challenges or not.
I took this as a sign that they were considering reallocating resources away from Challenge creation.
Then more recently, it was announced that sometimes, Weekly Challenges would be repeats of ones that had already been released.
Now, it seems like new Challenges are pretty rare and the majority of weeks we just see repeats.
It seems like PB (as they usually do) went ahead with their intended direction regardless of the poll results and effectively phased out new Challenges, but set up a random repeating sequence rather than shutting the feature down in order to appease those who responded that they enjoy them.
Hopefully I’m wrong and new Challenges will resume some day…
