Basically there are alot combos which are so good.But if u can tell your upgraded toons, then we can help ya.

For Tank:
Maui, Mr. Incredible, Oogie Bogie, Olaf, Hades, Hercules, Felix, Rex, Ralph, Gonzo, Pooh, Gerald Marlin Nemo
For Damage:
Stitch, Mike, Beast, Mcduck, Mulan, Nick, Dash, Vanellope, Elastigirl, Megavolt, Peter Pan, Scar, Mushu, Calhoun, Jack-Jack, Merida, Simba & Nala, tigger
For Support:
Launchpad, Linguini, Yax, T & P, Miguel
For Control:
Maleficent, Dr. Faciler, Frozone, Genie, Syndrome, Flynn, Hank & Dory, Finnick, Minnie Mouse, Powerline
It honestly depends on personal preference. You could go for characters you like or you could work on a specific type of team: freeze, blind, charm, etc.
As a F2P I have never really had the luxury of upgrading all the new “OP” heroes so I have a team that incorporates some of the rather old heroes: Elsa, Felix, Winnie the Pooh, Peter Pan and Kevin Flynn/Dash/Robin Hood. I have found that my team can be quite successful albeit without much synergy.
My advice is either to work on characters that you like or pick a specific team type and if all else fails, use Randy, jk (unless you want to that is).

i am in the same state as u. i am working on leveling rank first, then going into specific ones for skill level. here are my recs:
