Chapter 2: The King’s Task

You and Jack decide to camp out in the forest to gather info on what’s going on. It’s night time. The two of you are sitting in front of the campfire.

You: What have we done…
Jack: I don’t understand. I mean, I knew there would be consequences, just-
You: You knew?
Jack: Yeah, but the book only said they would only occur if we summoned someone who was meant to be in the underworld, not someone who wasn’t… I thought it wouldn’t apply to Don Taco…
You: Why didn’t you tell me this?
Jack: I didn’t want you to get suspicious about me.
You: Sure…
Jack: Maybe we can get more info at the library where I got the pages from.
You: Wouldn’t it be dangerous to get back there?
Jack: Yeah, but if we wanna end this, we’re gonna have to risk it.
You: I think I’m just gonna go to sleep to wake up from this nightmare.

You lie down on the ground and try to sleep on the rough dirt.

It’s morning now. You wake up and find Jack still sleeping. You nudge him to wake him up.

Jack: (groggily) Hmm?
You: Where’s that library?
Jack: It’s gonna be a long walk, but it should be near the edge of the city.

Jack picks up his backpack and takes you to the towards the city. After a couple of hours, you and Jack arrive at the Library. There are demons roaming all around. Fortunately, they don’t notice either of you.

Jack: It should be right… over… there. I’ll go get it.

Jack fetches the book.

Both of you sit down on a chair to discuss the book.

Jack: According to the book, if we gather some certain relics, we can get these shades which can help us teleport to Don Taco.
You: Teleport? Can’t we just look for him?
Jack: Nope. Don Taco would be in another dimension.
You: Hmm… And the relics? What are they?
Jack: Well, the relics are a crown, a book, a necklace, a teapot, a helmet, a top hat, and a boombox.
You: That’s more relics than last time, am I correct?
Jack: Seems like it.
You: So, how do we get the first one?
Jack: The crown? Well…

Jack shows you the book.

Jack: Apparently, there is this secret portal in this very library. If we knock on one of the doors, we should hear a series of knocks in return. We must count the amount of knocks in the pattern and scratch the door with amount of knocks we hear in each set of knocks.
You: So do we know where the door is?
Jack: Yep.

You follow Jack to the back of the library.

Jack directs you to help him knock one of the shelves next to the wall onto the ground. After you do, you two see a rusted, wooden door.

You decide to knock on the door. Both of you hear some knocks in return.

INSTRUCTIONS
Listen to the pattern here and write down the series of knocks! @ me when you have figured out how many knocks you heard.

After scratching the series of knocks on the door using a pen you found on the ground, the door starts emitting a bright light. Then, the door disappears. You and Jack walk into the portal.

You and Jack find yourselves in a room with stone walls. It reminds you of those castles you’ve seen in movies.

The portal is open behind you, but in front of you, there is a door. You and Jack open it up and see that you two are indeed in a medieval castle. You quickly close the door behind you with a bang.

You: We traveled back in time???
Jack: On the bright side, we can get the crown now.
You: I just hope we don’t get killed.
???: (muffled) Who’s in there?!
You: Shoot.
You: Umm…
???: (muffled) Get out! You’re not supposed to be in there!
Jack: Wait, this is perfect. We get jailed, taken to the King, and maybe we can get his crown!
You: Are you crazy?!
???: (muffled) To the count of three! One!

You open the door to find an old man standing in front of you.

You: Fine, fine, we’re out…
Old Man: You two are hereby arrested until you are tried in court by the king.

You and Jack are taken to a dungeon. A few hours later, both of you are taken to the courtroom.

The King: Now, who are they and what crime have they commited?

The King had a loud voice.

Old Man: Your majesty, I found these two in the empty room.
The King: Hmm…

The King looks towards you and Jack.

The King: And what were you two doing, snooping around in the empty room?
Jack: We weren’t-
You: Let me handle this.
You: Your majesty, we do not mean any harm. But we come from afar, and we are here to ask you if you can provide your crown.
The King: No one will get their hands on any of my crowns!
Jack: What about your Crown of Madness?

Everyone else in the room gasps in unison.

The King: Hmm? Oh, that crown… fine. You may have it, but only if you can call one of my servants. Only then, shall you be released.
You: But how?
The King: Hmm… as a fair king, I will give you some hints for each of the servants you have to summon. Here are my hints:

  1. ________ japonica
  2. Arcaea
  3. 31, 30, 51
