Yes, they do appear in many places, but a majority of the places where they appear are only obtainable by P2P’s, while the rest rarely appear for a F2P. So, Kim being contest rewards would be better.
It seems a bit unlikely, diamond exclusive heroes appear a few weeks as contest rewards once they’re added.

@Polaris Now that friendship missions wont have lvls… What will happen with those dialogues when we reach a new lvl? They’ll be rid? Plus… What will happens with ppl who wants complete past challenges related with reinfected nodes? If they wont apper that means they couldnt complete those challenges after this update?

As of now they have said that the friendship mission story content will be removed from the game unfortunately. I do think that’s really unfortunate, as well as not really making sense given the demographic Disney Heroes likely are people who like story content a lot given how much story content there are/have been in Disney Heroes.
I hope that they later can implement the friendship mission story content again after having time to make it possible for the friendship story missions to be in the game again, since it will likely take some time to code back in.
All we can do now is to hope and be vocal about that we want the friendship mission story content in the game.
I actually don’t like them in there, it’s a waste of a reward slot for something that’s like 4 pops of a hero in epic CW - and for a new hero who needs to be at Red rank to use them anyway… only helps spenders, and only a little.

I was thinking that before, the top reward was just hero chips and cosmetic chests, and the red skill chips had been added as an additional bonus, not taking the place of something else. If it did take the place of, say, gold, I can see how it might not be a good tradeoff for a lot of F2P.
And yeah, it’s only four Epic City Watch battles to get (more than) 125 red skill chips, but that’s still four battles that can be used getting chips for another hero (or more for the featured hero). It’s not a reward that’ll inspire me to push harder for the top tier, but I’ll still take it.
Honestly what was this huge hype about Kim for the last year? I didn’t even know she was Disney until people mentioned her is this game. Watched the cartoon it was ok I guess. Generally confused what the excitement was all about 
You don’t care for the cartoon, other people do. Differences of opinion are common; there’s probably stuff you’re crazy about that other people are indifferent to.
Tron was just the hardest character to get, because that it cost over a thousand city watch tokens it was impossible to spend that much, especially in terms of spending it to sabotage characters in Guild War!
