This is why it´s not good. Any red skill “requiring specific teammates” is not good.
My concept for Jack Sparrow was great and original and would make him really good in the current meta. Yet, PB decided to make him even weaker than before without any reason to.
Considering how Davy is great, Tia got a great refresh and Barbossa is very used as well, Jack´s red skill is terrible beyond anything.
And mind you I have a 1.06M, R14 6* Jack Sparrow @Baroness_Eric_II. So of course I wanted him to be top tier, not just nilly willy guy to pair with shielders. He needs Hardy, Evasion or some form of counter, because he´s shut up easily the first second.
Finally my boy Beast got his Red skill

@Polaris but isn’t Beasts red mechanically flawed? He has so much crit damage that 30 purple levels will make his crit hit for the same damage as a super crit. And super crits don’t benefit from crit damage, Ive asked supports about this and it has been confirmed to me. Ehy put an effect on super crit when he literally has 0 reason to super crit?

Henchman count as villains! Hyenas, Flotsam &Jetsam, Jasper and Horace, Joanna, etc
Also quit trying to force villainy on Inside Out!

+She can fit with Sadness and Angel and Kim.
+Sally,Disgust, jack sparrow(with his new RS) and Calhoun(or Li shang) could be super fun once sally drops out and things kick to second gear.
Basically, She’s just a nuke, but I fear they will spike up her #s to make her relevant thereby supplanting Anger. So yah- pretty disappointed in this rush job. She seems totally uninspired.
With Kristoff on the enemy side, he will never get it. So will not get it like 85% of the roster, since the only good defense against him is hardy spam.
- That´s not easy to get at all.
- You will hardly do any damage with such a team.
This is not even ranting, just objectively stating how much he´d get it. If he had similar schtick as Elastigirl, he´d be decent. Plus Avast does not hit hard at all @purplemur.
I don’t have a great answer for anti-Kristoff, but there are a couple of passive start of turn ways to generate a shield. Jack prolly needs an HP mod so give him a shield? Nick,Bay, slinky, theres ways if you build for Jack not around a counter.
Having avast scale up addresses the DPS.
It´s not just Kristoff… Jack is extremely prone to CCs overall. No Evasion, no Tenacity, no Hardy, no nothing basically.
So Jack will only be decent if one of the bonus stats in his red skill is Evasion or Tenacity. Otherwise he´ll be exactly as without the red skill.
HP Shield mod won´t help him, since he can very well be shutted 2s into the wave without a chance to get out of it. Truly, the only mods that will help the team (not him) are Purple Skill SP mods. That amount of BD given to allies can change the battle pace.
Jack will do no damage tho. If you pair him with Dash, that´s when you got a chance to win.

I should have more empathy: I am still bummed out with Rafiki and Madam Mims Red Skills; when long awaited RS underwhelm and just don’t address the problems it gets frustrating. I shouldn’t have trivialized it.
I think he could/should be on the shortlist for a refresh in which case shield might not be so strange a req?
The thing is Rafiki was at least decent and Madam Mim was and is still god in invasion.
But Jack wasn´t good anywhere, no matter how much you tried and he got further downed now.
