These Gifts are clearly aimed at beginners, like full-on level 1 just starting out their DH account…
It would be nice for the rest of us to receive something worthy of celebrating, too - especially after such a huge reduction in badge crate availability and thus ability to maintain a competitive roster.
I want to know the real reason behind this and not just “we will redistribute them elsewhere”.
Cause you clearly did not! Unless there is something hidden for the winter break, which I sincerely doubt.
If it is due to the merge - say it. Be honest, for once. If it is just that people started to feel like they have large rosters - say it.
I did say not long ago that the Badge Crates make Ranks more of a statistic, but to be fair, it´s the only way for newcoming players to even stand a chance nowadays. And with double updates on some servers? Yiiiiiiiiiiiiikes
All these rewards are horrible (maybe not 2 badge booster crates but they are too few to say it is worth anything)
People are quitting left and right and with badge booster crates, we could somehow keep up our roster. And now, suddenly, they are gone. Without any proper explanation
In service industry, never take away anything of your customers without explanation and compensation. And what do we have here? Explanation is lies, compensation is horrible
I expect the daily gifts to get better as the promotion goes on (although, IMNSHO, a 10x diamond crate is noticeably worse than two badge crates), but I don’t expect them to reach the point where players are overjoyed to get them; maybe mildly happy, for most of the forum regulars and the like, but that’s about the most I’m expecting.
It would not surprise me in the least if this is PerBlue’s idea of “redistributing” the contest crates: instead of the 30 crates that 10-25% of the playerbase could get every week, it’s instead 42 crates every month, with 25-50% of the playerbase able to get all or most of them. It would be of a piece with their claim of players getting more disk power from the friendship redesign, where a handful of players who were optimizing friendship missions for disk power saw a significant drop, most active players saw probably only a moderate change in one direction or another, and players who usually logged in just two or three times daily but were still active probably saw a large increase.
On the other hand, we’ve yet to be told how long it’ll take before we see those contest crates redistributed, so there’s always a chance we’ll see more sometime down the line, maybe in the spring or some such. Basically as soon as I learned that the badge crates were dropped from the top tier of contest rewards, I had a feeling I’d never get more than half of them back from the “redistribution”; I’d love to be proven wrong, but I’m not holding my breath.
I’m about 90% certain that the real reason is that getting 45+ badge crates weekly was, simply, too good for the players. PerBlue obviously feels players should have only a small number of heroes upgraded without spending lots of money; I expect someone in the financial analysis team noticed how many more heroes people were able to level up, and concluded that the badge crates were costing PerBlue money.
It feels like the invasion rewards debacle all over again: I got a taste of how fun the game could be with a modest increase in resources, which makes the frustration of the normal grind all the more apparent.
Exactly this, but most of what PB have ever done has suggested that it’s completely immaterial how much fun players have, or even how long they spend playing - if players aren’t feeling like they must spend to keep up, things get changed.
If that is true, I won’t be surprised. Perblue has never had player’s best interest at heart. They set up impossible goals and when players DO get there, they will do everything in their power to make sure it never happens again
Cost increase, Invasion rewards decrease, disc power needed increase, surge gold cut down in half and now this

All I am going to say as a player who doesn’t understand coding very much and what not….
I be less confused if they post stats they say they use to make these decisions that they say they will confuse us if they did Becuase what actually seems to be going on as many say people are quitting Becuase the constant making it harder for players to enjoy the game by taking more away from them , or making it harder to progress in game , and feeling ignored with guild perks (expanding and new ones like making the small double drop percentage to level, increase stamania or decrease badge costs (store wise and physically wise) , increase port tries by like one or two (not including vip status perk but for everyone), increase coins (not gold) and diamonds won from arena and coliseum Becuase the x5 crate badge costs keep going up way too much even though the payout of coins daily isn’t (honestly the cost now doesn’t even want me to buy those crates and rather spend all on hiest tickets))… the list goes on.
Sorry to say…but saying you listen to all types of feedback critical or not, doesn’t seem to be true at all lately in my opinion. To say things are good game economically also doesn’t seem to be true either when more servers that were previously merged need to be merged again. To quote the old ladies from Gieco commercial I think it was “that’s not how it works. That’s not how any of it works”.
End of day I get it’s your company and can do what you want with it, but just know you lose player respect and trust by removing of things that help them enjoy the game and make them feel ignored , free to play or paying.
The way the game is now, wish was like old school Nintendo and could use game genie… Becuase it’s getting out of hand in my opinion and others.
BTW, for these gifts, it’s just the beginning. U might say something else later when the new gift comes. Christmas will give the biggest gift. I believe it’s fair for a start. And like what others said, it might be for beginners. Should be enough or satisfactory. If u think it isn’t, what kind of prizes are u asking for?

Well adding badge crates to the contest rewards was YAY.
Taking 2/3 away under a promise “you will get them elsewhere” and not getting them is NAY.
If that was indeed a false promise given, except an increased lack of trust. Even I am on the edge now.
Back in the day, when gold was nerfed Polaris (or someone else from PB back in very early days) said “you earn too much gold”. It´s harsh, but at least it´s honest. If we do earn too much via a good use of badge crates just say it. To be fair though, their nature won´t change, since good players know how to use them and occasional (or “weekend” ones) don´t. That will simply be the same.
