A Letter to PerBlue - Changes Need to be Made

I am a S18 (formerly S19) player from the 4th top guild ‘The Dumpln Gang’. I enjoy (or rather used to enjoy) Disney Heroes very much because of the fantastic artwork and exciting gameplay but there is a huge and obvious problem that you already know about but have been ignoring, and the game/player base is suffering hugely because of it.

Yes, it’s the double caps.

It is horrible that you are forcing them to work (or pay) twice as much and not provide the slightest compensation aside from the super occasional campaign double drops that don’t help at all.

I can’t get my heroes up to cap. I play actively every day and all my heroes are at least 10 levels and 3 ranks behind. It’s impossible to keep up unless you pay for absurdly overpriced deals. This is coming from someone who bought multiple deals to try and reach the cap, but still was never able to.

I know why you’re doing this. Your business sees the vast majority of your earnings coming from a small fraction of the top ranked player base. I also know they are the ones willing to pay the extra money between double caps. This is exploitative design! You are taking advantage of your player base. Money > Player Trust & Loyalty.

It might be fine now but it’s incredibly short sighted. The long term outlook is not good as things are right now. You are losing players daily, where are you gonna get new players? If we can’t keep up how can anyone new join the game? That means that with every player you lose, you are taking away a competitor of a top player with nobody to replace them. You are killing competition for your top players, and when they leave, that’s it. Merges might delay it, but every merge costs you more and more players due to the cap increases. You’re gonna end up back where you started, it’s just a matter of time.

On S18 I’m watching the game fall apart. The formerly number 2 guild is now 21st with a huge chunk of its members who’ve retired due to this exploitative design. In my own guild players are leaving because it’s impossible to keep up. These are just a few examples.

It’s no wonder there have been so many posts about the game dying. Something needs to change! PLEASE start compensating your players for these changes. Showing respect and appreciation for the player base is the most important thing for the longevity of the game.

Here are some suggestions for changes that can be made:

  • PERMANENT double drops in both normal and elite campaign during double caps
  • Occasional red skill chips in elite campaign
  • Occasional double or triple port drops
  • Double rewards from city watch
  • Wish crate returned at reasonable cost

With so many uncompensated consecutive double caps, this is really not a lot to ask for.

Please @Loutre, let us know that there are plans for compensation.

In the meantime, if no changes are made, I promise you I’m not spending another dime. I encourage other frustrated players to do the same.

PerBlue, every time you ignore the player base, you dig the hole a little deeper. I’m not here to knock you, I just genuinely want to see this game be successful and fun for years to come. Please make the game fun again!!!

Unfortunately, this specific problem is not unique to Disney Heroes, my other favorite mobile game is suffering the exact same decision making process.

The company desires only to retain the players who pay substantial amounts to play the game, with the end result that all the free2players, casuals and semi-casuals leave the game, with the result that the active playerbase dwindles to those pay2players only.

I comprehend that a game needs revenue, but it also needs a large and active playerbase too.

Personally, I can not keep up with the level cap increases either, I have something like six characters at Y1 and it should be 20.
The cap is somewhere around Y7-Y8, so I simply can not play the game because the enemy teams are too powerful to defeat.

And then there are Friendship Campaigns, I had to abandon those too because they can’t be played with orange level characters anymore.

Agreed. Cosmetic Levels are a huge issue as well. It has gotten out if hand. The difference of 50% stat boosts is extremely difficult to overcome even with good synergy and counters.

If used well, more Badge boosters crates could help you guys as well (till the max rank/new badges at least). So PB should add more of those to your contests rewards or anywhere (prize wall also option to double it).

Hopefully something happens for you (and for my server when we inevitable come into double cap raises position)!

There’s no issue, and somehow it was noticed after… 2 years, too late for any changed, and it was said the cap of 1001 levels will be increased.
I didn’t had any problems when my level was 300 either…
