Well both? 
If I had to guess (which is what this is in all honesty) I would think you haven’t been demoted because the issue is you got promoted and then didn’t do anything. If you had been promoted, done 1 fight and then done nothing for however long the demotion timer is then I think you would have been moved back down.
Presumably you triggered the timer because you were inactive for so long, but the system is set up to only demote people who are actually ranked.
Yeah I was inactive on this server.
