Citywatch broken for months

Everybody all over my guild and all over the forums say City watch epic is impossible to win… I haven’t actually made it through City watch easy all 15 battles. By three or four… All your characters are gone, they’re all dead there’s nothing you can do to win all 15 battles even in “easy” mode because all the opponents start out so blindingly overpowered.
When there were only 20 or 30 characters, I easily finish all 15 battles, but once epic was introduced, I don’t know of anybody who has completed 15 battles in epic.
Citywatch is just completely broken.

Do you use survivalability boosting characters? Shank, Pumbaa, Joy and some others are essential for surviving a good amount of hits. Also quick fight characters, such as Zeus or Jessie, make the run much easier.

in City Watch, if you lose you can try again without penalty. So if your heroes die, you can just retry with a different team

Also, there is an option to make CW somewhat easier just before you start. Unequip mods and disks from heroes to lower their power, so you get easier opponents.

Furthermore, try to use the first few (easy) stages to have your heroes have full energy, so that on later stages you can just immediately use white skills.

And like Pip said, if you don’t like the result, just retry!

The addition of heroes like Zeus(Ha) and Mary Sanderson(Lo) have made City Watch harder, to be sure, but I wouldn’t say it’s broken yet. (I don’t think Pete(Mi) will be enough to break it either, but we’ll see.) There’s already been some good advice given in this thread, and I’d like to tack on a couple more tips:

Someone like Jim Hawkins, Chip & Dale, or even Wall-E to boost energy gain is very helpful, especially in the early battles. Being able to fill up Joy’s or Drakken’s energy in one battle, then holding them in reserve until you need an immediate heal or silence, is a powerful tactic that can make or break a City Watch run.

If you’ve got a halfway decent Kermit and either Ian or Drakken(Gi), get Kermit’s energy filled early on and keep him in reserve. Being able to put Reflect on your entire team at the start of a battle can get you past enemies you thought were otherwise impossible.

And to reiterate the most important piece of advice: You can redo a battle as much as you like without penalty; milk that advantage for all it’s worth. If you lose a hero before the final few battles, or even if you end a battle with too many heroes low on health or energy, redo the battle and try different tactics, timing, or heroes until you get a (near-)perfect result. With practice, this will become easier and you’ll only have to redo a few battles per City Watch, usually just two or three times.

Removing disks and mods doesn’t do anything. I did that for a year and it was just plain tooo much work. Tried CW without doing it one day and there was no difference. Haven’t done it since.

Best way to beat CW is try, try, try again and have the right set of toons for multiple scenarios.

It’s also worth mentioning that with CW as it is right now, you barely ever have to actually play it

Epic should be done whenever available, requires 35 keys and can be raided
Hard rewards 20 keys, and can be raided 20 out of 24 times

so - raiding Hard 20 times in a row gives 400 keys, which is enough for 11 Epic raids.

On this rough maths then, you essentially only need to complete around 4 non-raid city watches a month :man_shrugging: and over time, this will even decrease due to key buildup, the occasional raid ticket overflow from perks, and the raids actually lasting for a full month themselves anyway

Completing a non-raid city watch, with sensible heroes, takes 2 minutes thanks to the quick fight option.

8 minutes per month spent on city watch… :man_shrugging:

Thank you one and all for the tips because I just put my filter on REFLECT, to see what I had in that department and since I don’t have a great assortment I used Darkwing, Fear, Maximus, Zeus and Fred and I tore through level 5 like it was butter!
Now I can raid epic… I appreciate all the suggestions because it helped me figure out how to do it with what I had…
