I hope this doesn’t come off as whining, but this is something that I’ve noticed over the past few months with contests, and after fully participating, and I mean FULLY participating in the one today, I’ve got to say that something needs to be done about how hard it is to actually complete a contest 100%. The following is a screenshot of what I spent, today only, on the most recent City Faire Contest.
This is the accumulated tokens, coins, etc, of several months of playing the game each day, participating in Surges, City Watches, and Heists. Since the announcement of Nick Wilde Threads for a new costume for him, I think I’ve only spent maybe 4k surge tokens the past month, waiting for his contests to come out.
And right now, I’m only at 915,346 points.
I have spent a total of 74,828 tokens, and nearing 11 million coins and still aren’t close to cracking the needed 1 million to complete this contest. And that represents over a month of saving each and every token I’ve had, as well as buying multiple packs over the past month in preparation for this month’s events.
As far as contests go, this is incredibly harsh to any player, and dampers the enthusiasm for playing this game, when you put EVERYTHING you have into a single contest, saving for over a month, and you probably still won’t complete it.
I’ve been playing this game since the Beta launch, and remember contests being a lot more fun even a few months back, as even then you could be competitive in them and have fun doing so. (such contest I remember giving out 50 to 120 points per token made participating much more fun and easier) Now? The excruciating challenge of finishing a single contest really deflates the fun. Recently I haven’t even tried the contests as I’ve known I wouldn’t come close to even accomplishing half the goals.
PerBlue, I’d suggest making the contests a bit easier so more people take part in them. Give more points for tokens, stamina, gold, diamonds, etc, spent so that folks want to participate as they might have a chance at completing maybe more than a single contest once every few months.
If you do this, I know that personally, for myself, I’d start taking part again, which means I’d be spending money again on this game as I’d view it as a chance to accomplish something with the cash I spend.
Food for thought.
