Hello,
I have my 3k+ stored energy before leveling up. After leveling up from 105 to 106 my stored energy became just 204 from the 3k that I accumulated for days 
What I noticed is after my energy is gone my team exp became 3k/15k immediately after leveling up.
Is there a way for you to check this out?
