Why is that every time some one wants to make a “special of the day” purchase, you have to buy something on top of it? I’m sorry but if I’m making a purchase, I’m not going to spend $19.99 & then turn around and do the same thing in diamonds just to get what I wanted in the first place.

With any purchase you get the # of diamonds (of the package you purchased) PLUS all the “free” goodies.

Exactly - that’s why in the purchase confirmation it doesn’t say 'Special Deal of the Day etc etc…", it always says “Fistful of Diamonds” or whatever size package it is.
Any in-game purchase of either a deal or straight diamonds, gets you the diamond value + every deal that’s currently available for that amount or below
