Heist... questions

I noticed some stuff in the Heist:

1. When you have Moana on your initial team (the team you picked when you enter the Heist) and one of your heroes enters a combat and they use their White Skill, you can see her “Love and Protection” skill triggering (a.k.a the spirit of Tala, Moana’s grandmother). What does this do anyway?

2. Does the Disc of other heroes that give team boost (e.g. Calhoun’s Violet Disk) still give effect even when the said hero isn’t on the initial combat?
