Creating 2 threads increases the chance of someone seeing it.
I would argue that it decreases the likelihood of people wanting to join.
If people are looking to join a guild and there is a decent thread in the right place (guild recruitment) then it will be effective.
I would love to join a competitive guild only if the people are nice and someone can get help if needed
