Personally, I like to refer to the damage over time effect as Health Drain. It’s not the most creative name out there, but it gets the point across.

yeah… apparently bleeding makes parents freak out even though it happens all the time. Oh well I guess, but that would make it more interesting to call it that
I was thinking it would be burning since it mostly occurs with fire-based attacks.
In the game DC Legends, the debuff is called Bleed. I mean, that game is technically rated for kids over 13 but I guarantee you some younger play it. Just like some do here also.
I think it might be that using the word “bleeding” in a battle context potentially has more mature or even violent applications behind it than a simple “everyday” injury.
