Who is calling it spam?
Regulars are the ones posting about how these posts are flag worthy and defending over flagging as a matter of course.

I tried to defuse the tension as well. But my problem with Alyssa is not who likes movie A and who likes movie B. Is was her attitude about the situation that got me angry.
We tried to make her understand it’s not as bad as she makes it out to be. But all she did was twist our words, used the same excuse over and over again, constantly lost her temper at the slightest resistance, and showed no respect for anyone. That’s what got me mad. I am sure that the other forumers that were involved would say the same thing.

I will admit my bad:
I am blaming Regulars when the whole point of community flags is the community at large can flag without reprisal.
I acknowledge that most often Regulars have the experience and wisdom to see WHY a post would have been flagged and sharing that insight isn’t nesc mean they were the ones upset.
I will admit I was continuing feeding the troll on that other thread because it was obvious from the second paragraph it was being argued in bad faith and nothing but bait. So I thought hyperbole and farcical mocking would be apropos.
But;
Perhaps, just maybe…if some of the Regulars adjusted their notifications they wouldn’t be so upset at threads that go on and on and on without accomplishing anything. It’s the internet forum for a video game=the perfect place for a meme. Perfect place for someone to rant about their favorite movie not getting enough love. Maybe if the Regulars let threads have their own wax and wane based on the natural lifecycle of these boards they wouldn’t be so upset that some topics keep going. Like trying to be in control is not gonna work, over flagging doesn’t work to stop threads, repeatedly telling others to stop posting doesn’t work.
Not Regulars are bad. It’s specific people and it’s not always Regulars!

And yes, video game forums are the perfect place for that; better than a restaurant, a bathroom, at church, etc
Ya’ll don’t like something so its just control and suppress; constant labeling of things as violations of the rules when they aren’t. You don’t own the forum and don’t get to allow anything- that sentiment is pure ego and hubris.
If less energy was spent trying to stop “bad threads” and get gotchas then there would be less fuel and the dumb stuff would die out and fall off.

You seem to ignore the fact that Alyssa is the real antagonist here. You act like we’re against her just because she’s showing her love for TP, but that’s not the case at all. We’re against her because she’s trying to force her opinions onto us.

All those places have no use for them, but you still don’t understand they were straight up calling people who didn’t like the movie dumb.

I don’t object to having problems with the TP post, it was when someone made a meme and was labeled as spam (you have yet to point out how this is spam) and the attitude was I don’t care anything about anything; it is spam and I am tired of this topic; by someone continuing to engage it is a problem and I will spend energy to silence. Well that is not good enough, you do not have the right to say what people can talk about.

That was an industrial trash pit aflame!
A garden hose of sensibility isn’t gonna put it out, (actually by starting a back blaze it keeps the trash from jumping out of the pit and moving in a dangerous vector.)
Firefighters would rather the neighbors stay away then running around yelling about the fire.
I lost the metaphor but basically the TP post was so not genuine and pouring gas and burning it out hotter may have burnt it out quicker.
