Off duty war heroes

I will start off by saying I love guild wars it’s a great addition to the game. Cars with buffs/debuffs great idea! sabotaging great! Both of these can be used as strategy. However I am extremely disappointed with off duty heroes almost to the point where why do I even play this game. Off duty heroes has no strategy to it and not well thought out, including allowing them to remain in defense. My guild has been doing great in wars but every time I get that off duty heroes page I get upset. Let the guilds go head to head with no character restrictions!!! We want to know that we won through strategy and communication not just because the other teams top characters were off duty and vice versa.

It’s the same off duty heroes for both guilds, and it is strategic. A major point of this game is building your roster. Off duty heroes makes it more of a challenge, and that’s what it’s suppose to be. It’s not difficult if you just keep working on other heroes.

I’m actually OK with it, both guilds have the same off duty heroes.

This is to prevent players putting the blinkers on and maxing 15 toons, completely ignoring the rest to have the best war team every week.

The game has over 40 heroes now (and will only end up with more), off duty heroes allows more of them to be of value.

I think it needs to be fine tuned before I’ll be ok with it, even if you have to add an extra day into the war phase. Day 1 find out opponent, off duty heroes, and sabotages and off duty heroes get removed from next war garages allowing players to fill in those spots. Day 2 and 3 remain the way they are now.

Usually it’s not hard to beat the off duty heroes. The way it is now is fine.

I like the twist of he off duty heroes

I don’t mind off-duty characters, but I wish that it were a little less random and drew at least one of each “type” of character. Losing 3 damage characters or 3 tanks can definitely be a challenge.

Personally I don’t actually mind off duty heroes - BUT - Have off duty heroes for Defense and off duty heroes for attack.

I posted elsewhere that too many guilds are stacking their defenses or their top 15 - and not overly worrying about the other characters (skipping leg day) - which combined with off duty heroes for attack can make some attacks impossible.

I also think there needs to be some more information around how the MMR system is calculated @Polaris - because it seems flawed imo.

I’m really curious how the off duty heroes are chosen. zurg has been off duty for 4 consecutive wars and walle 2 or 3 of the 4 and constantly seeing repeat heroes of duty. With there being so many heroes then why are the same ones continuously off duty?

I think the randomness of the off duty heroes is garbage. We have a full orange 1, 6 Star shield team we can’t touch because all the relavent shield breakers are off duty. My guild has tried every combination of characters to break this shield team: Baymax, Violet, Wall-e, Flynn and Eve. Every fight is a timeout, and we can kill a single character. Dash and Rex are both off duty, as well as Wall-e, Violet. There’s no strategizing against shields when the only shield breakers are off duty. Shield teams are difficult even if you have the breakers available, now we’re stuck in this war.

I’ve changed my tune on this, while I appreciate it stimulates variety - which is great for heist.

In war ultimately all this does it handicap weaker guilds even more. A guild only slightly lower in power can not afford to have their best toons out of action. It gives too much advantage to more powerful guilds.

It either needs to go, OR expand to offence AND defense like cicerello originally suggested.

Doing so will help generate closer wars, which most of us want.

Finally - someone sees my point…

I’m slow, but get there in the end.
