Oscar Nominations

In the shortest and most spoiler-free way I can put it:

Raya and the Last Dragon is a movie that preaches about trusting others, but every time our main character shows any trust, she is immediately betrayed. Every. Single. Time.

The message the movie sends is “Don’t ever trust anyone, ever. Trusting others only ruins everything.”

The other two that are nominated for best animated feature are flee and the mitchells vs the machines.
Disney will have a 60% chance to win that Oscar.
My oscar predictions(my opinion)

  1. Luca
  2. The mitchells vs the machines
  3. Encanto
  4. Raya and the Last Dragon
  5. Flee
Note: I did not see flee, so hopes for Disney to win this oscar.

Not every time. There was Sisu who Raya trusts 100%. For Boun, she did have her guard up but Boun never gave her any real reason not to trust him. A weird example would have to be Tong, it was actually the opposite with Tong being the paranoid one. But in the case of Noi and Namaari, they betrayed her at first but eventually wins them over in the end.

I’d say @Musketeer-Endgame wants this to win… but I personally want Encanto to win. It deserves it

Luca deserves to burn, trash movie.

Encanto and Cruella deserves to win whatever is possible.
Raya might too… but Encanto is better.

I’m surprised that Eternals is not up for anything.

Sometimes it’s easy to predict who will take the reward, but here, hard to say. Out of the five only Raya has no chance IMHO. I haven’t seen Flee, but projects like that usually lose the contest. Luca…Might be a more simple movie, but it’s still Pixar, they win even with stronger competition. After Spiderverse I think Sony has a better chance, so yeah, it’s mostly The Mitchells vs The Madrigals here. Mostly I don’t care, but Encanto is easily my favourite Disney movie released in 21st century, so I’m rooting for it.

Glares at the end of the movie, Raya trusting Namari with the pieces of the Dragon Gem

Exactly in the order of how good they were/how I enjoyed them and who deserves to win.

Marvel movies are usually not nominated, only for visual effects. We have already two marvel movies there, so :man_shrugging:

No, most people find those bad movies. That you find them good, whatever, go enjoy them, we don’t care. But that doesn’t mean that we have problems!

Funny thing is that Encanto might be the first time Disney wins directly to Pixar. In other years Disney won Pixar either wasn’t nominated at all (2013, 2016) or hadn’t made a movie (2014)

IMHO, given the Academy’s heavy pro-Disney/Pixar bias in the animated feature category, I think Encanto is by far the most likely to win, although The Mitchells vs. the Machines has been doing well enough in critics’ awards that, if Encanto and Luca split the votes enough, TMvtM might get Sony their second victory. Academy voters absolutely will not give the award to a mature animated feature, so Flee will have to hope for a win in the documentary or foreign-language categories.

I don’t care.
Overrated opinion, just following others…

Almost nobody talks about Raya and Luca… but Encanto exploded… it’s a phenomenon, it’s everywhere, more than Frozen, and it’s really good.
It deserves everything what is good.

If Encanto wasn’t a musical it wouldn’t be nearly as popular. That’s why Frozen and Encanto exploded the way they did.

Disney does make great musicals! If it were up to me, they’d make musicals exclusively lol

Well, hard to compare, as 90% of their movies are musicals.

They are also able to make good non-musicals, like Wreck-it-Ralph or even more so Big Hero 6 (who won Best Animated Feature as well  )

But being a musical does help, if just one song explodes the film as a whole profits from it!

No doubt they can make a fantastic movie, but historically none of their movies explode in popularity the way they do without a killer song to stand on. It kind of makes the movie relevant for longer, keeps it in peoples minds.

For that purpose, you can’t beat a musical!

ye

Anyways, Raya. I thought it was okay, not really that great.

Now, compared to Encanto and Mitchells vs the Machines, it’s not that good anymore. X_X

Encanto might as well stand the test of time because of it’s true-to-heart core of being close to the Disney Renaissance Era, which is a hoot.

I got to admit that Encanto is reaching popularity levels compared to that of The Jungle Book, The Lion King, and Frozen.

All of them very popular in it’s hayday amd still are to this day. All of them are musicals. And all of them having a signature song to go by in which all of them were nominated for best song with 2/3 winning it.

  • The Bare Necessities (The Jungle Book)
  • The Circle of Life (The Lion King)
  • Let It Go (Frozen)

Entries for Best Original Song have to be submitted by November 1st. With Encanto not releasing until the end of November in cinemas, Lin-Manuel had to choose which song he wanted to submit. He chose Dos Orguitos as he felt it best represented the overall theme of the movie

Which one was Dos Orangutan? I just remember the songs sung by characters and the one that goes “Coolambya! Encanto! Encanto!” Lol

It’s the song close to the end where it all sung in spanish.

I didn’t like Luca in fact it’s gonna be a big competition between Raya and the Last Dragon and Encanto

For the past years Pixar’s won the most Oscars for Best animated film in fact it’s the number one animation studios. This time I betting Raya or Encanto gonna get it
