Poor Contest Scoring

Did y’all give up on doing mathematics to check your contest scoring setup, especially when it comes to points for Stamina Spend…?

The two “tiers” of Diamond Spend scoring are the way they have been since the beginning of contests; that is where points are earned faster on the “limited” tier, most everyone reaches the maximum and additional scoring on the “unlimited” tier continues at a slower pace.

However, Stamina Spend scoring used to be that way also, but has flip flopped at some point; it has become more and more difficult to reach the maximum score on the limited tier of Stamina Spend to the point of being nearly impossible for many players, especially FTP players. As an example specifically for the upcoming FTN, the limited tier scoring requires a player to spend 281.68 million stamina to max out (28 x 10.06 million); if a player only has regular stamina cans available, they would have to have and use 4,694,667 stamina cans to reach the max score (281.68 million / 60 stamina per can).

If this truly was done intentionally, why was it not done with Diamond Spend scoring and what is the reason for adjusting the scoring this way…?

Do you want them to flip it around? In this case, it doesn’t really matter; the only people who are going to spend more than 30M stamina during the contest are people who pay for stamina regularly anyway, and most players will stop well before then and be satisfied with getting the progress rewards. But if the cap were set, say, for the first 500k points earned from spending stamina, would you rather each point past that level cost 3 stamina, or 28 stamina?

Yes, this is different from how it was done for the first 4.5 years or so of the game, but I think it’s a better way of doing it, not worse. It makes contests marginally easier for FtP and low-paying players, while still allowing whales to duke it out for the top rank rewards.
