Potential Fixes for Judy Hopps

Hello Developers!

I’ve been playing the game steadily for a little over a week now, and have been enjoying it quite a bit. It is a very fun game, addicting as I’ll get out, and playing as characters I know and love really makes the game that much more enjoyable. The gameplay is fun, easy to pick up and I’m having a blast with the Friends Missions! Finnick needing a rage counselor is my favorite part of this game so far, and Vanellope’s dialogue is spot on with her movie self.

I’ve been testing out each character as I get them, and have all but Bogo, Felix, Jack Jack, Buzz, and Woody. Most of these characters seem really well balanced between offensive/defensive power, as well with their stats, though I’ve found one character that plays and feels flawed: Judy Hopps.

Her stats, besides her HP Regeneration, are abysmal when compared to all other characters, including the other Support Characters such as Yax and Violet. (I’ve taken a few hours today to compare and make charts for all characters and each of Judy’s stats place her either at the very bottom, or second to last among all characters).

With her placement as a middle character, this further hampers her playability, as with her incredibly low HP, and armor stat that doesn’t seem to offer any damage negation, she is quickly KO’ed by all creeps and characters. Even with all the enhancements on my level 42, B1 Judy’s available badges, her stats are still nearly all below my Yax of a matching level, and my level 37, B rated Violet with no enhancements. Violet at level 31, actually outclassed Judy in almost every stat, which greatly shocked me.

This, combined with her lack of offensive skills (which seems strange as she knocked out a rhino in the movie Zootopia), makes her a weak character that when played, doesn’t survive long at all. I know the absolutely massive HP regeneration stat she has is supposed to be paired with her armor stat to allow her to last in battle, but she usually is KO’ed before she can regenerate her HP at the beginning of the next battle. Regarding the armor stat, I haven’t seen the higher than average armor stat actually decrease any damage she takes so this might be a glitch or has such a minuscule effect that it appears to do nothing to help her out.

So from my experience, Judy is fun to play at lower levels, but once you hit enemies that are resistant to normal damage in chapter 5, she becomes a useless character that is quickly knocked out, does little damage, and barely helps her team being being KO’ed. If her HP was higher to allow her to actually last until a round ends, or if she had more attacks that do damage to enemies, she would be a great asset to teams. But until some sort of changes are made to her Stats, or Skills, or both, I can’t see her being a useful character at higher levels. I’ve tried, and every level I’ve played she’s gone by round 2, if not round 1. It’s actually quite sad to see such a beloved character be so…useless. :frowning:

I hope this doesn’t come off as needling about a character, as I know she is a “Support role” character and those will never have the HP of a Tank class like Ralph, or the attack power of a “Damage” inclined hero like Nick. However, with just how quickly she gets KO’ed, even when playing multiple tanks in front of her and Yax’s healing skill at lvl 35, it is impossible to use her in Campaign mode as she both can’t damage enemies (the cricket bat thugs in the first row as she only targets first row enemies), and is targeted first by back row enemies and KO’ed nearly immediately.

With the worldwide release coming up soon as stated by that announcement today, would it be possible to boost her stats, or make some changes to her character to make her playable further into the game? I love having a team of Nick and Judy, Ralph, and Vanellope together along with Yax, but Judy is sadly being left in the dust and I can’t find a justifiable reason to keep her on any team like I can with all other characters.

Hopefully this feedback helps out in tweaking the game for its release. Again, this is a fantastic game, I just thought to point out something that could potentially make it even better. I hope Judy Hopps receives a bit of an update soon, as I’d love to keep my team of Hopps and Wilde together since they make such a great team in their movie.

Thank you for your time, and I hope you’ll consider these suggestions or reply.

I agree she is trash and I have her 6 star with maxed felix disk. So many better options than to use her in a team

Even tho there are other better choices, I disagree, she isn’t trash since composition wise Judy can fit in any and have been using a lot to boost some heroes in some situations.
I agree she could need a tweek or 2 but not much in my opinion.
But she could be one the potential refresh heroes like Finnick just had.
I believe she’ll get there eventually.

At the least she needs the “True Damage” tweak, as that is her biggest flaw in the campaign, Invasion and elsewhere. Otherwise she’s good for seven seconds then is wasted potential after that if there is a cricket bat enemy on a level.

On invasion I agree her utilities are a lot to be desire, but elsewhere could be a bit misleading.
Yes I still agree she needs a rework but I use her a lot in all modes except invasion and she still shines in some situations after the 7 seconds.
Cricket bat creep is not an excuse in my opinion since there are heroes who suffer the same stuck with normal damage even tho they bring a bit more on table than Judy.
In my opinion Judy still stands in an above avarage for her role, support your heroes which does a decent job. Besides, cricket bats ain’t much of a problem when there are good units where they can wipe them easily.
We cannot forget the hero isn’t fighting alone. If there is a wall for 1 hero, there are 4 others alongside to help bypass it.

It’s not that the other heroes can take out the cricket bat enemies, it is that she only targets the front line enemy so that her Special Attack of targeting the front line enemy, is basically worthless. And a worthless attack is one that needs adjusting to make it worthwhile.

And again you only picking that specific creep for no reason when she got the support capabilities. That is her main role. Her special is decent in almost any mode besides a few situations.
Even tho she is from another level, Moana becomes worthless against those creeps suffering beeing stuck with normal damage and also attacking the frontline unites until you can trigger her green skill.

I’m not trying to prove anything in here, since we both agree she needs this tweak, just trying to relieve something Judy or her special isn’t. But I guess we both have different perspective how we see it or use it and that is fine, I respect it.

It more of getting rid of a frustrating aspect of her game character. As you mentioned, Moana is worthless against the front line UNTIL she uses her green skill.

Judy doesn’t do that. She can’t damage any other unit when that creep is in front. If you want to realize how annoying and frustrating it is to have only four character dealing damage and the fifth doing nothing, start playing through Invasion, the game playthrough, or any level you aren’t playing against a person and you’ll notice the cricket bat creep is everywhere. In the early game, folks abandon using her as they can’t progress with her on the team.

And that’s the flaw, and a huge, glaring one at that.

Yes, she’s a support character, but even the healers in this game have better attacks than her. She supports with boosts, for the first few seconds of a fight, then becomes mainly useless the rest of the time. She needs that True Damage, in order to offer support throughout a battle, not just the first few seconds.

THAT’S a true support character, one helping all the way through.

I hope next hero refresh is Judy~~~~~

I disagree with True Damage tweak though. All the characters in the game that have a true damage skill have it because of a reason that revolves around what that attack does. With Maui and Queen of Hearts, their skill does True because that is much better than their execute dependent on how much Skill Power and Armor/Reality they have. It could do practically nothing against, say (if Normal) Chief Bogo or some other tanks, while it could almost 1-shot Sulley at the start of the battle (not really, but you get my point), so True damage makes these heroes more reliable and controllable.

Stitch heals for 100% of the damage that his Blue skill does. attacking, say Sulley (if 626 scuffle did Normal Damage) Would practically fully replenish Stitch’s health. On the other hand, attacking Shank would do nothing.
True damage is reserved for heroes whose Basic attack and how their skill would work. These skills deal True so that the skill is more reliable annd can’t be exploited. It is not to be given out willy-nilly.

Seriously, if that is what you want, just give Judy extra Armor Negation
