Hello Developers!
I’ve been playing the game steadily for a little over a week now, and have been enjoying it quite a bit. It is a very fun game, addicting as I’ll get out, and playing as characters I know and love really makes the game that much more enjoyable. The gameplay is fun, easy to pick up and I’m having a blast with the Friends Missions! Finnick needing a rage counselor is my favorite part of this game so far, and Vanellope’s dialogue is spot on with her movie self.
I’ve been testing out each character as I get them, and have all but Bogo, Felix, Jack Jack, Buzz, and Woody. Most of these characters seem really well balanced between offensive/defensive power, as well with their stats, though I’ve found one character that plays and feels flawed: Judy Hopps.
Her stats, besides her HP Regeneration, are abysmal when compared to all other characters, including the other Support Characters such as Yax and Violet. (I’ve taken a few hours today to compare and make charts for all characters and each of Judy’s stats place her either at the very bottom, or second to last among all characters).
With her placement as a middle character, this further hampers her playability, as with her incredibly low HP, and armor stat that doesn’t seem to offer any damage negation, she is quickly KO’ed by all creeps and characters. Even with all the enhancements on my level 42, B1 Judy’s available badges, her stats are still nearly all below my Yax of a matching level, and my level 37, B rated Violet with no enhancements. Violet at level 31, actually outclassed Judy in almost every stat, which greatly shocked me.
This, combined with her lack of offensive skills (which seems strange as she knocked out a rhino in the movie Zootopia), makes her a weak character that when played, doesn’t survive long at all. I know the absolutely massive HP regeneration stat she has is supposed to be paired with her armor stat to allow her to last in battle, but she usually is KO’ed before she can regenerate her HP at the beginning of the next battle. Regarding the armor stat, I haven’t seen the higher than average armor stat actually decrease any damage she takes so this might be a glitch or has such a minuscule effect that it appears to do nothing to help her out.
So from my experience, Judy is fun to play at lower levels, but once you hit enemies that are resistant to normal damage in chapter 5, she becomes a useless character that is quickly knocked out, does little damage, and barely helps her team being being KO’ed. If her HP was higher to allow her to actually last until a round ends, or if she had more attacks that do damage to enemies, she would be a great asset to teams. But until some sort of changes are made to her Stats, or Skills, or both, I can’t see her being a useful character at higher levels. I’ve tried, and every level I’ve played she’s gone by round 2, if not round 1. It’s actually quite sad to see such a beloved character be so…useless.
I hope this doesn’t come off as needling about a character, as I know she is a “Support role” character and those will never have the HP of a Tank class like Ralph, or the attack power of a “Damage” inclined hero like Nick. However, with just how quickly she gets KO’ed, even when playing multiple tanks in front of her and Yax’s healing skill at lvl 35, it is impossible to use her in Campaign mode as she both can’t damage enemies (the cricket bat thugs in the first row as she only targets first row enemies), and is targeted first by back row enemies and KO’ed nearly immediately.
With the worldwide release coming up soon as stated by that announcement today, would it be possible to boost her stats, or make some changes to her character to make her playable further into the game? I love having a team of Nick and Judy, Ralph, and Vanellope together along with Yax, but Judy is sadly being left in the dust and I can’t find a justifiable reason to keep her on any team like I can with all other characters.
Hopefully this feedback helps out in tweaking the game for its release. Again, this is a fantastic game, I just thought to point out something that could potentially make it even better. I hope Judy Hopps receives a bit of an update soon, as I’d love to keep my team of Hopps and Wilde together since they make such a great team in their movie.
Thank you for your time, and I hope you’ll consider these suggestions or reply.
