Just spent 30 minutes promoting Eda Clawthorne
Everytime I tried to use power promote whole game froze. I basically had to power craft each rank’s badges one rank at a time. Power promote didn’t even work when trying to promote a measly 2 ranks. I shouldn’t have to stay up all day and all night trying to promote my toons. It’s ludicrous.

My game doesn’t freeze “per say” when I power promote, but it does “freeze up” for what feels like minutes (longer then it should take). So I completely understand what you’re saying

Not sure there is anything that PB can do about the extra time it takes unless they make significant changes to the way the feature works (which I’m not sure is feasable).
It really shouln’t take 30 mins though, my iphone 13 takes about 60-90 seconds to go from white to E3.
What phone are you using?

I found that chunking up the Power Promote into like, batches of 5 ranks at a time (for example) kept the time sensible and avoided the game hanging/crashing.
Not sure if this has any affect on the calculated stamina cost, though - in theory it could do due to how raids are considered

I did the same for most of my heros but more recently I just do something esle while my phone strokes out

This made it difficult to earn gold easily.

I’m using iphone 14 pro max. My phone falls asleep before it finishes. I waited like 5 minutes one time to no avail.

I use a Samsung Galaxy Tab A7 most of the time while playing; it takes 2-3 minutes to spend a couple million stamina while Power Promoting, so I can imagine it would take at least 5 minutes if I tried to go straight from the sub-Red ranks to Emerald, but I’ve always been able to keep it from going to sleep by tapping somewhere on the screen when it first dims.

Either way it still takes way longer then it’s supposed to. The whole point of power promote is it’s supposed to be fast. With over 200 toons even 5 minutes per power promote it would take hours because you also have to level up skills and friendship disks, and equip badges when promotion is done. Usually I can’t tell the difference between a freeze and just regular lag because there’s no feedback. If it’s going to take a while I at least want to see a spinning circle to know my game isn’t frozen.

Absolutely agreed. Previous statements from PerBlue employees on this forum have shown that they’re trying to eliminate or at least drastically reduce the lag that’s plaguing various parts of the game, but it’s proving difficult.
In my experience, this is one of the times where it really does look like a freeze rather than the usual lag. Whenever I Power Promote a lot of ranks (or more than one rank above Y20, same effect), the game just shows absolutely no activity whatsoever for a couple of minutes. If you’re not expecting such severe lag, the lack of activity would definitely look like the game had frozen and needed to be restarted.
I certainly hope PerBlue is able to effectively test this issue and is able to find a solution (or at least mitigate it significantly) very soon; as annoying as I find the absurd growth in stats for the newest heroes (and some refreshed heroes), the game’s lag, and particularly the extreme delays while Power Promoting, is an even bigger threat to the game’s future.

Hopefully they can fix or at least reduce the lag drastically. I probably won’t be increasing the rank of my toons for a while because it just takes too long and now adays I can really only log on for about an hour a day.
Nah, it´s related to how power promote works and the crafting trees being screwed up since Y12 sadly, Emitz
