It’s been a long time since red skills were introduced, and I’m sure we all know just how strong many of them are. But ever since their introduction, there’s been a massive problem with them that’s only gotten bigger and bigger, and that’s the cost of upgrading them. I don’t mind skill chips and the gold cost, those both make enough sense, but the amount of hero chips that are demanded to make it so that a skill can keep up is outrageous. When you consider a handful of red skills have a chance to fail against units under a certain level, or skill chips that inflict disables (meaning they can fail against high tenacity or evasion), you end up with red skills that end up being partly or mostly useless unless you can afford to max the skill, which costs well over 4.6k chips at this point.
I think at this point, the skill chip cost should be massively reduced or flat out removed (maybe in exchange for higher skill chip costs or something), or make it so that all heroes’ red skills can’t fail against enemies at a higher level than the skill (many newer heroes have been following this trend, it’d be nice to see that apply for older heroes who could use that). There’s still going to be at least some incentive to buff these skills if that were the case, like the extra stats they provide.
