I don’t think Maui defines as a villain.
Robin Hood stole from the rich to give to the poor. It’s bad on one hand but lawful on another.
He’s what you call Lawful Neutral.

That’s just like Maui. He stole TeFitti’s heart for the “poor” or the humans.
There isn’t exactly Thoughtful on the Alignment Chart, but yeah, I guess so.
