I would love to see Star Wars characters in the game and maybe get some of the same packages as the other servers. Like 3 and 18 have mod packs right now and I could use that on 22 right now.

Disney only adds those who were originally created and released by Disney. Disney owns Star Wars, but they weren’t its original creators.

If you want to get pedantic, they didn’t create Muppets either. However, every Muppet movie released since they were bought up has been labelled as a Disney movie, while Star Wars is still Lucasfilm (and regardless of the fact Disney owns Lucasfilm, that doesn’t make Star Wars “Disney Movies”, per se)

During beta devs already told players that Marvel and SW characters will never be added here. Nothing to say more here. After merge with Fox, I guess Fox’s characters are on same train, no Simpsons or Ice Age…

There is already a mobile game, not particularly dissimilar to DHBM, that uses Star Wars characters. I don’t imagine that the developers of that game (who presumably pay a not insignificant price for the rights to use the characters), will stand back and allow another company to essentially copy their game.

Not a fan of the “they have their own game argument”, as seeing Star Wars characters in a Star Wars game and seeing (a limited few) Star Wars characters in a crossover game are completely different matters. Especially ones like this with crossover friendship stories and the like

It’s not completely different at all. Someone has paid for the rights (almost certainly with an exclusivity clause) to those characters. They aren’t going to allow someone else to use them. It would be the same if some other developer wanted to make a game using a load of Pixar characters. Perblue would have their legal team issuing cease and desist orders before lunch.
I guess that’s as fair a point as any. I guess the people I’ve seen use the “they have their own game” argument before have mostly done so under the “you can go play as Han Solo in the Star Wars game” way, and that’s the argument I’m sort of opposed to. Your argument is more along the lines of exclusive rights and such
