I see kuzco, kronk, yzma, pacha as characters…
Kuzco as a control hero that keeps stealing a little bit of energy from your whole team while stealing a little bigger bit of life from the opponents whole team(because he makes life tuff while being an emperor)…
Yzma as a vial-throwing damage-type who’s vials are kinda like Genies ability to change the foe into different objects and afterwards removing some of their energy while reducing their skillpower a little bit (because she got all the vial in the world 
).
Kronk is a support kinda guy that uses squirrel calls and his friendship with the whole town of kuzcotopia to stampede rival teams and sing songs that heal your team (because kronk is just a big warm loving guy)…
Pacha is a tank that can call forth an army of alpacas and use them to push back everybody on the opponent team to the furthest point of the arena and then all the alpacas spit and it causes the opponents to be stunned/blinded for some time (because what can beat the power of the mighty alpac(h)a) And that would be pretty cool to add to let’s say yellow team 
Now this might be a lot to ask for but i really think the emperors new groove are missing out on all the fun
