The New Guild Wars Matching

Alright. So I appreciate that the new guild wars system pits people of similar power and mmr against each other overdifferent leagues, but what I’m about to show is absurd and needs to be addressed. My guild, Masters Council, is currently going against the top rated guild Darkwing Duck, 2 entire leagues away, even when we aren’t even remotely close in mmr or power levels. This is an issue, and an extremely unfair one at that.

I’m not sure if this is intended, but there are SEVERAL other guilds that are close in mmr and definitely above ourselves in power. I am very, very curious to know the reasoning behind this. As it stands, the new system doesn’t appear to be working very well.

100% agree. New guild war matchmaking is incredibly broken, however there is reason why you would be paired. There is a 3 War buffer between rematches meaning that if you fight guild A, then you will face guilds B, C, and D. After that if MMR is close enough you can face Guild A again. This may be the first time you fight them in this season but they may have faced the other close MMR guilds. Also other matchups might have happened to take everyone else and you guys got the short end of the stick.

I’m not debating your point on the matchmaking being problematic but in this instance it can be reasoned out as to why it happened.

Check that posting.
The reason you are paired with DWD has to do with DWD’s MMR, not yours. DWD currently is not more than 3 wars away from a closer MMR; you’re next in line. Let’s say they fought #2, #3, and #4 the last 3 wars. They can’t fight #2 again til next war, so this time, they fight #5 (based on MMR, not guild rank.)
We had them 4 times last season, not because there was no one closer to our MMR, but because no one is closer to theirs.
@Polaris has yet to explain if PB is considering changes, but many changes have been suggested.
Under the current system, the only way for the top 5 or 6 guilds to avoid a constant cycle of repeat wars is to intentionally tank their MMR, which I’m sure was not the intent when this mode was introduced.
