As you guys can tell, my game is updating…unfortunately, it gets stuck at a certain percentage!

If you enter Game while the server has not completed updating. You will have your case.
1st time: Update shows < 100MB
≥ 2nd time ↑ : Update shows about 600MB

updating is moving at crawling speed. definitely some issue here…it’s been half hour and yet to pass 50%

Yeah, it caused me to miss out on my Daily Rewards.

That’s not the case at that time, I checked my game about 2 hours AFTER the servers went back up.
I had same problem about 3 hours after the update. Download was agonizingly slow. It took almost 45 minutes for it to complete the download. Good news is that once it finally completed I’ve had zero issues.
