What are virus infections in the campaign? How often do they spawn? If I don’t do them right away, do they stop spawning?

I suppose they’re meant to be an obstacle in daily routine. Just so something happens on places thay you’ve been to. They’re also a decent source of disk power.
I think they spawn daily at random places? I’m pretty sure there’s a limit to how many you will have at the current moment. I rarely do these and I never had a map full of infected areas.
Infected areas are levels where creeps will be higher rarity and have more stars to them. They are a source of disk power and will spawn indefinitely. They also increase in power the more you clear. It is very possible to have entire chapters infected and in theory have every point of the map infected. The last thing of note is that these only appear in normal campaign so if you are worried about farming hero chips you need not stress there.

My entire map was infected until today, minus the 4 stages I raid daily.
