I’m little weird, why the special badge does not unlock, even though I already have all the emojis complete, and the special badge must unlock. I hope @Polaris fixed this.
I don’t think a Special Avatar unlocks whenever you complete an Emoji Series, like Nick’s, in your case.
Those Special Avatars are only obtainable through Special Contests like The Incredibles, Toy Story, Wreck-It Ralph Contests, and Special Events like The Anniversary Update.

The item unlocks the emojis. Emojis for some heroes (like Nick) can be unlocked by completing levels in the Friendship Campaign.

All of friendship campaign about Nick has complete include Judy, Darkwing, Finnick, and Jack sparrow. Yah but robin and Nick their friendship campaign is still locked because the level is not enough.
Why can’t we get more contests for this avatar items?
