New Refresh Concept: Donald Duck

Debuffs are aplenty these days, and some folks are desperately turning to good ol’ Donald Duck to help deal with them…and realizing that this is a terrible idea, because Donald is…let’s be kind and say “absolutely terrible.” But the potential is there! He just needs to have his abilities receive a swift kick in the pants, to update their utility for the modern day, and he’ll be a solid option to help mitigate those pesky debuffs, just like we need him to be!


The Refresh

General

  • Donald now has an indicator icon to show how many debuffs he is able to absorb.

Base Stats

  • Basic Damage increased by 200%
  • Skill Power increased by 125%
  • HP increased by 100%

Skills

  • Increased damage by 175%
  • This attack now deals Normal damage
  • This attack now hits all enemies in melee range
  • New effect: Donald will target the enemy with the lowest current HP
  • New effect: Enemies hit by this ability will have the duration of all their debuffs increased by 8 seconds, including those added by Short Tempered

“Donald jumps to the enemy with the lowest current HP in a rage, dealing X damage to them and other nearby enemies and increasing the duration of all their debuffs by 8 seconds.”

I don’t think Frozone would ever even be eligible for a Refresh, since he’s a starter hero.

As for Mushu, a full-on Refresh is probably not necessary–his skills are good, it would just be a numbers fix for him. He literally just needs his numbers to be better, and then he’d be better.

It was always strange to me that they changed Donalds role to control when the majority of his moveset is damage based.

They aren’t, his damage always was lower, purple made him control, just like Finnick.
but in both cases, it’s really poor control.

New Refresh Concept: Goofy

The fact that Goofy isn’t top-tier is a crime. All it would take are some small changes to make him the dancing god he was always meant to be. Unleash the Goof!

New Refresh Concept: Miguel Rivera

Miguel’s kit is a neat concept, but its current iteration is too weak to be useful. Let’s kick things up a notch and make this Support a real contender! Particularly one who can make the battle go spectacularly wrong if you don’t get rid of him quickly!

  • Miguel’s basic attacks give the targeted ally 2 notes instead of 1
  • Activating this ability no longer removes notes, but notes are now capped at 5
  • New effect: Each time Miguel would apply a note to an ally with 5 notes, that ally gains 2 stacks of Hardy
  • New effect: Allies with 5 Notes when this ability is activated gain 3 stacks of Hardy

"Passive: Miguel’s basic attacks apply 2 healing musical Notes above a random ally or himself, healing them for X HP every second per Note, to a maximum of 5 Notes. If Miguel targets an ally who already has 5 Notes, that ally gains 2 stacks of Hardy. Also, Miguel cannot be Charmed.

Active: Miguel strums his guitar, healing himself and allies for X HP per Note currently on them. Allies who have 5 healing Notes will also gain 3 stacks of Hardy."

New Refresh Concept: Stitch

Stitch is too single-target focused in a world that favors AoE damage. So when a situation like that occurs, there’s only one sensible course of action: Make Stitch an Assassin-type character. Isolate the weakest target, and pick them off. It just might give this little guy a niche.

  • Increased damage by 25% per hit
  • This attack now hits the target Alerting Stitch
  • New effect: This ability removes all buffs from the target before dealing damage

"Stitch pulls out all of his blasters and attacks the closest enemy 4 times, removing all of their buffs and dealing X damage to them with each hit.

Once Stitch unlocks Cute and Ferocious, he will instead target the enemy he is Alerted to."

This attack deals True damage, which ignores Armor and Reality."

The Energy gain is reduced when critting enemies above level X."

  • Hardy removal effect removed, as the baseline ability has a stronger effect

  • New effect: Stitch is Alerted by the enemy with lowest maximum HP, focusing his attacks on them

  • Added Star Effect: Enemies have a 20% (+20% per additional star) chance to be Charmed by Stitch for 4 seconds after 626 Scuffle. Enemies Charmed by Stitch remove 2 (+0.5 per additional star) buffs from the targets of their basic attacks.

New Refresh Concept: Magica DeSpell

Magica’s got some neat stuff in her kit, but it’s too bare-bones to stand out in the current Control meta landscape. It also doesn’t help that Curse isn’t that punishing of an effect. With a little bit more spice, Magica could become a real force to be reckoned with.

New Refresh Concept: Anger

I keep forgetting Anger exists, and I know that, if I were in his shoes, I’d be pretty cheesed off, myself. There’s a solid foundation here, but it needs a lot of work to function in the modern day.

  • Skill Power increased by 90%
  • HP increased by 80%

Skills

:white_circle: White Skill - Boil Over

  • Now deals 100% increased damage per Rage stack, instead of increasing by a flat amount
  • Increased damage per Rage stack now applies to the initial hit
  • New effect: This ability now Scares enemies before dealing damage

"Passive: Anger gains a stack of Rage each time he damages an enemy with his basic attack, up to a maximum of 5 stacks.

Active: Anger blows his top, Scaring all enemies for 8 seconds and consuming his stacks of Rage to deal X damage instantly and X additional damage over 5 seconds to all enemies.

Damage is increased by 100% for each stack of Rage consumed.

The Scare has a chance to fail against enemies above level X."

  • Now grants 2 stacks of Rage when nullifying a disable
  • New effect: Anger’s Tenacity now reduces the duration of all debuffs

Maui is awful. Everything he’s supposed to be able to do, he can’t. He can’t tank, he can’t Energy drain, he can’t Execute, he can’t support…he can’t do nothin’! He is easily one of the worst heroes in the entire game. But he doesn’t have to be. Behold!

New Refresh Concept: Goliath

I completely forgot Goliath was even in the game until I checked the most recent tier lists. And the reason is obvious: His kit is a lame, lazy, unfocused mess. It’s gonna look more like a rework than a refresh, but I’m determined to take Goliath’s trash kit and turn it into something more focused and more useful!

  • Petrification has its own icon that displays over Goliath’s character model

  • Skill Power increased by 30%

  • Base attack speed increased by 25%

  • Increased base damage by 80%
  • Additional damage dealt is now equal to 100% of guarded damage
  • This ability now hits all enemies
  • New effect: Now knocks back all enemies
  • New effect: 30% of all damage taken by allies is redirected to Goliath

"Until Goliath runs out of Energy, he guards himself with his wings, taking 80% reduced damage from all sources. While guarding, 30% of all damage taken by allies is redirected to Goliath.

Once he runs out of Energy or 12 seconds have passed, Goliath spreads his wings and roars, dealing X damage plus 100% of the damage he guarded to all enemies and knocking them back."

"Goliath is subject to Petrification as he is wounded. For every 15% of his maximum HP he is missing, Goliath’s Armor is increased by X and his movement speed is reduced by 18%. Petrification can stack up to 5 times. While Goliath has any stacks of Petrification, he becomes immune to knockbacks.

Goliath deals 150% of his Armor as bonus Fantastic damage with his basic attacks and abilities.

Allies gain X Armor while Goliath is channeling Fully Guarded."

:red_circle: Red Skill - Projectile Protection

  • Absorbed projectiles have their damage added to the ability’s damage counter
  • Level restriction removed
  • Bonus Maximum HP increased by 200%
  • New effect: Goliath gains 20% Normal Crit and Fantastic Crit each time an enemy is knocked back, stacking up to 10 times

"While channeling Fully Guarded, Goliath absorbs any projectiles that attempt to pass him, adding the damage they would have dealt to his damage counter.

Goliath gains 20% Normal Crit and Fantastic Crit for 6 seconds each time an enemy is knocked back, stacking up to 10 times. The duration is refreshed with each new knockback."

New Refresh Concept: Hades

Hades is really good at stalling out the clock and buffing teammates that deal damage over time, and…that’s about it. He really isn’t pulling his weight in any metric other than being a time-waster. What if–and this is a crazy thought–he actually functioned as a…tank? Perhaps with some…ally support? And damage? You know, those things tanks do? Yeah, let’s give him some of those. That’d be swell.

:white_circle: White Skill - Burning Rage

  • Increased initial damage by 900% and damage over time by 600%
  • New effect: Enemies have 3 buffs removed immediately and every second while taking damage

"Hades furiously shoots flames across the battlefield, dealing X damage immediately as well as X damage over 5 seconds to all enemies.

Enemies taking damage from this ability have 3 buffs removed immediately and 3 additional buffs removed per second."

:green_circle: Green Skill - It’s a Small Underworld

  • Increased damage redirect to 25%
  • New effect: Hades’ basic attacks deal increased damage equal to 100% of redirected damage taken

"Hades redirects 25% of all damage dealt to allies to himself. Hades’ basic attacks deal increased damage equal to 100% of the total damage redirected to him.

This skill has reduced effectiveness against enemies above level X."

:large_blue_circle: Blue Skill - Dismal Damage

  • Effect now buffs allies as well

"Hades and his allies deal 1.5% more damage for each 1% HP that Hades is missing.

This effect is reduced against enemies above level X."

:purple_circle: Purple Skill - Lord of the Dead

  • Scare duration increased to 20 seconds
  • New effect: Hades’ basic attacks hit in an area after reviving
  • New effect: Scared enemies have reduced Basic Damage and Skill Power

"Once per wave, when Hades reaches 0 HP, he revives and heals himself for X HP. Hades then Scares the enemy team for 20 seconds. Scared enemies have their Basic Damage reduced by X and their Skill Power reduced by X.

After reviving, Hades’ basic attacks will also hit enemies near his target."

  • Increased Skill Power gain by 50%
  • Increased damage redirect to 75%
  • Removed level requirement
  • Bonus Burning Rage damage increased by 300%
  • Bonus Maximum HP increased by 200%
  • Bonus Skill Power increased by 50%

"When Hades reaches 1 HP, he becomes Invincible for 8 seconds. During this time, Hades gains X Skill Power and the damage redirect from It’s a Small Underworld is increased to 75% instead of the usual 25%.

This skill can activate once before he is revived, and once after he is revived."
