New Refresh Concept: Aladdin

Aladdin, on the other hand, is terrible. Mind-bogglingly terrible. Possibly even in-dire-need-of-a-full-on-rework terrible. Let’s get crackin’!


The Refresh

Base Stats

  • Basic damage increased by 200%
  • Skill power increased by 75%
  • HP increased by 100%

Skills

:white_circle: White Skill - Sabre Slash

  • Increased damage by 300% per swing
  • Relocated effect: Effect of Shank disk now baseline

“Aladdin slashes enemies with his scimitar 3 times, dealing X damage with each swing. This increases Aladdin’s Attack Speed by 150% for 6 seconds.”

:green_circle: Green Skill - Energy Steal

  • Increased damage by 125%
  • Increased Energy steal to 300
  • Now hits the attacker and all other nearby enemies, but still only steals Energy from the enemy who triggered the attack
  • No longer has an initial cooldown and total cooldown reduced to 5 seconds

“Aladdin dodges a melee attack and Counters, dealing X damage to his attacker and all other nearby enemies and stealing 300 Energy from the primary target. Aladdin can only use this Counter once every 5 seconds.”

  • Now reduces his ability cooldowns by 1 second when successfully dodging an attack

"Aladdin has a 25% chance to dodge any attack. When Aladdin dodges an attack, the cooldowns of Energy Steal and Magic Carpet Ride are reduced by 1 second.

Aladdin’s chance to dodge is reduced against enemies who are above level X."

  • Increased damage by 200%
  • Now has a 12 second cooldown and functions like a normal attacking ability

“Aladdin rides Carpet over his enemies at the start of combat, jumping down into them and swinging his scimitar 3 times, dealing X damage to nearby enemies with each swing. Aladdin can leap onto Carpet and repeat this attack every 12 seconds.”

:red_circle: Red Skill - Gotta Keep Up

  • Now also reduces the duration of Slow effects to last a maximum of 3 seconds
  • Bonus damage to Magic Carpet Ride now applies to all enemies, not just Control role enemies

"Aladdin blocks all disables longer than 3 seconds from affecting him, and Slow effects on Aladdin cannot last longer than 3 seconds.

This has a chance to fail against enemies above level X."


Friend Campaign Disks

Disk #1 - Genie

  • Current Level Effect: Increased healing per second by 1000%
  • Added Level Effect: +X Skill Power
  • Added Level Effect: +X HP
  • Current Star Effect: Invincibility duration increased to 2 (+1 per additional star) seconds and can be triggered three times per wave. Because three wishes.

Disk #2 - Shank

  • Current Level Effect: Increased Basic Damage bonus by 300%
  • Added Level Effect: +X Skill Power to Aladdin and allies
  • Added Level Effect: +X Armor to Aladdin and allies
  • Current Star Effect: Removed, now baseline
  • New Star Effect: Sabre Slash and Magic Carpet Ride remove 12% (+12% per additional star) Armor from affected enemies for 8 seconds. Aladdin gains 40% of the stolen Armor for the rest of the wave.

How 'bout next, can you do Maleficent? (She’s literally the worst control in the game and she SUCKS)

I think Oogie Boogie could use a refresh. He has synergy, but it doesn’t feel like he offers as much to the table as he could.

New Refresh Concept: Shan Yu

Shan Yu is supposed to be a frontline terror who makes his enemies regret putting up Shields, but he isn’t very good at doing either of those, since he dies too quickly, doesn’t do very much damage, and his anti-Shield bonuses aren’t nearly potent enough to truly punish Shield users. You know what time it is. Let’s do it!


The Refresh

Base Stats

  • Basic damage increased by 100%
  • Skill power increased by 85%
  • HP increased by 55%

Skills

:white_circle: White Skill - Volley of Arrows

  • Increased base damage by 150%
  • Energy gain increased to 250
  • Now immediately destroys Shield effects instead of dealing damage to them, Stunning enemies for 6 seconds when they have a Shield destroyed

"Shan Yu calls in a volley of arrows, dealing X damage to all enemies. If any enemy has a Shield on them, the Shield is immediately destroyed before the damage is dealt and the enemy is Stunned for 6 seconds.

Shan Yu also gains 250 Energy each time an enemy receives a Shield."

:green_circle: Green Skill - Fierce Falcon

  • Reworked slightly: Hayabusa will Study all enemies before striking all enemies
  • Increased damage by 100%
  • Cooldown adjusted to 5 seconds
  • Study duration is now shown in the ability text
  • Now heals Shan Yu each time Hayabusa deals damage

"Shan Yu’s falcon, Hayabusa, flies overhead. Every 5 seconds, Hayabusa Studies all enemies for 9 seconds before swooping in to deal X damage to all enemies.

Shan Yu is healed for 100% of all damage Hayabusa deals."

:large_blue_circle: Blue Skill - Slashing Strike

  • Now targets all nearby enemies
  • Shielded enemies instead have their Shields destroyed and are Pierced for 8 seconds

"Shan Yu swipes at nearby enemies in a rage, dealing X damage and Stunning them for 11 seconds. This ability destroys enemy Shields before dealing damage, and enemies that had a Shield destroyed by this attack are also Pierced for 8 seconds.

Pierced enemies take 6% of their maximum HP in True damage each time they take Normal damage. Damage over time effects can only trigger this damage once per second.

The Pierce has a chance to fail against enemies above level X."

  • Basic damage increased by 50%
  • Now also increases Shan Yu’s Armor Negation
  • Can now trigger multiple times

“Each time Shan Yu is reduced below 50% of his maximum HP, his Armor Negation and Tenacity are increased by 50, and his Basic Damage is increased by X for the rest of the wave. This effect can stack without limit.”

:red_circle: Red Skill - Bow to Me

  • Attack Speed buff is now permanent and stacks up to 6 times
  • Slashing Strike now always Pierces
  • Increased damage over time effect by 100%, and no longer requires enemies to be Shielded to apply
  • Hayabusa now also breaks Shields, applying 3 stacks of Weakness to affected enemies
  • Bonus Basic Damage increased by 75%
  • Bonus HP increased by 60%

"Each time Shan Yu activates Always In Command, his Attack Speed is permanently increased by 50%, stacking up to 6 times.

Slashing Strike will now always Pierce targets it hits.

Fierce Falcon destroys enemy Shields before dealing its damage, and now deals an additional X damage over 5 seconds. Enemies who had their Shields destroyed by Hayabusa have 3 stacks of Weakness applied to them for 8 seconds.

The Weakness application has a chance to fail against enemies above level X."


Friend Campaign Disks

Disk #1 - Dr. Facilier

  • Current Level Effect: Basic Damage increased by 75%
  • Current Level Effect: HP increased by 50%
  • Current Level Effect: Studied enemy Basic Damage penalty increased by 75%
  • Current Star Effect: Study duration extension increased to 20% (+20% per additional star)
  • Added Star Effect: Shan Yu and his allies gain 15 (+15 per additional star) Energy each time an enemy is Studied.

Disk #2 - Randall Boggs

  • Current Level Effect: Skill Power increased by 50%
  • Added Level Effect: +X Armor
  • Added Level Effect: +X Reality
  • Current Star Effect: Silence effect now triggers when Volley of Arrows destroys an enemy’s Shield and also reduces Energy gained by affected enemies by 10% (+10% per additional star)

New Refresh Concept: Maleficent

Maleficent is bad and her stats and abilities are the big sad. This so-called “mistress of all evil” really needs a kick in the pants to live up to the title she gave herself.


The Refresh

General

  • Maleficent’s badges have been radically altered to give her 45% Reality Negation, 95% Fantastic Crit, 40% Crit Damage, and 70% Tenacity at most Red and Yellow ranks.

Base Stats

  • Basic damage increased by 150%
  • Skill power increased by 100%
  • HP increased by 125%

Skills

:white_circle: White Skill - Dragon Fire

  • Increased damage by 150%
  • Now hits all enemies
  • New effect: Scares all enemies for 10 seconds before dealing damage
  • New effect: Deals additional Fantastic damage over 8 seconds

“Maleficent transforms into a dragon and breathes fire, Scaring all enemies for 10 seconds before dealing X damage to them, as well as an additional X damage over 8 seconds.”

:green_circle: Green Skill - Forest of Thorns

  • Increased damage by 300%
  • Relocated effect: This ability affecting all Cursed enemies is now baseline
  • Initial cooldown reduced by 1 second and total cooldown reduced by 2 seconds

“Maleficent summons thorn bushes that entangle the enemy with the most HP, Stunning them for 6 seconds and damaging them for X damage over 6 seconds. This ability will also affect all Cursed enemies.”

:large_blue_circle: Blue Skill - Fog of Doom

  • Now Sleeps all enemies instead of Stunning them
  • New effect: Enemies lose Energy each second they are asleep
  • Cooldown reduced by 2 seconds

"Maleficent places a Sleep spell on all enemies. While Sleeping, enemies are Stunned until they take 25% of their current HP in damage. Once the Sleep ends, enemies are then Slowed by 60% for 6 seconds.

Additionally, enemies lose 50 Energy each second while Sleeping.

This ability has a chance to fail against enemies above level X."

:purple_circle: Purple Skill - Mistress of All Evil

  • Curse duration increased to 12 seconds
  • Curse effectiveness increased to 75%
  • New effect: Dragon Fire now applies Burning to the enemy

"Enemies damaged by Dragon Fire or Forest of Thorns are now Cursed for 12 seconds. Cursed enemies have all healing received reduced by 75%.

Additionally, Dragon Fire also inflicts Burning on affected enemies for 8 seconds. Burning causes the target to take 100% increased damage from damage over time effects for the duration.

The Curse and Burning effects have a chance to fail against enemies above level X."

:red_circle: Red Skill - Cast My Spell

  • Level requirement removed from Tenacity reduction
  • New effect: Maleficent’s basic attacks now hit random enemies but will prioritize Tank role enemies
  • New effect: Maleficent gains Attack Speed for each Cursed enemy
  • New effect: Burning enemies deal reduced damage
  • Stat bonuses unchanged

"Maleficent’s basic attacks will now hit enemies at random, but will prioritize Tank role enemies before all others. Enemies damaged by Maleficent’s basic attacks have their Tenacity reduced by 75 for 12 seconds.

Maleficent gains 25% Attack Speed for each Cursed enemy.

Enemies now deal 50% less damage while Burning."


Friend Campaign Disks

Disk #1 - Ursula

  • Current Level Effect: Skill Power increased by 250%
  • Added Level Effect: +X Armor
  • Current Star Effect: Wording changed to clarify that the Energy removal is instant and in addition to the ability’s new effect.
  • Added Star Effect: 20% (+20% per additional star) of the Energy removed by Fog of Doom is given to and divided among Maleficent and her allies.

Disk #2 - Jack Skellington

  • Current Level Effect: Forest of Thorns bonus damage increased by 200%
  • Added Level Effect: +X Basic Damage
  • Current Star Effect: Nearby enemies damaged by Forest of Thorns will now always be Cursed by Mistress of All Evil.
  • Added Star Effect: Maleficent is healed for 5% (+5% per additional star) of all damage dealt by Forest of Thorns.

So up to this point, I haven’t been making use of Wakkatu’s tools to add relevant stat bonuses from Red Skills into the damage calculation, and in Maleficent’s case…it turns out those bonuses were extremely relevant and made a huge difference. For example, adding in the Skill Power bonus from her Red Skill made Dragon Fire jump up from ~15m damage to ~40m damage. Which is wild.

So from here on out, the damage increases I propose will have the maxed Red Skill in mind.

New Refresh Concept: Oogie Boogie

Mr. Oogie Boogie didn’t play fair, and now he’s been punished by the merciless beatstick of powercreep. But it’s okay–he’s got all the tools he needs to succeed. We just need to prop them up with proper numbers and some additional support here and there, to help this bag of bugs be as terrifying as the prospect of a bag of sentient bugs should be!


The Refresh

General

  • Oogie’s badges have been adjusted to give him 70% Fantastic Crit and 225% Improved Healing at most Red and Yellow ranks.

Base Stats

  • Basic damage increased by 120%
  • Skill power increased by 100%
  • HP increased by 75%

Skills

:white_circle: White Skill - Quite a Fright

  • Increased damage by 80%
  • Increased healing by 80%
  • New effect: Oogie’s basic attacks Stun enemies that are Scared

"Passive: Oogie Boogie’s basic attacks deal Fantastic damage instead of Normal damage. When Oogie Boogie damages a Scared enemy with his basic attack, that enemy is Stunned for 3 seconds.

Active: Oogie grins a terrifying grin, dealing X damage to all enemies. This Scares affected enemies for 17 seconds and heals Oogie for X HP."

  • Increased initial damage by 50%
  • Reduced initial cooldown by 1 second and total cooldown by 2 seconds
  • Chance for reroll now shown in ability text
  • New effect: Each Snake Eyes hit removes Reality

"Oogie Boogie throws a pair of loaded dice at a random enemy, dealing X damage. The dice then roll above the enemy, and if they roll Snake Eyes, the enemy takes X damage and their Reality is reduced by X for 6 seconds. The dice keep rolling, dealing damage and removing Reality, until they no longer roll Snake Eyes or the enemy is KO’d.

Oogie’s loaded dice have a 60% chance to roll Snake Eyes with each roll."

:large_blue_circle: Blue Skill - Weak with Hunger

  • Increased healing by 50%
  • Increased maximum HP increase by 50%
  • New effect: Increased healing by a percentage of his maximum HP
  • Cooldown reduced by 4 seconds

“Oogie Boogie eats a handful of grubs, healing for an amount equal to X plus 25% of his current maximum HP. This ability also increases Oogie’s maximum HP by X.”

  • Damage reduction increased to 75%
  • New effect: Enemies that are Scared while already Scared gain Fatigue stacks

"Oogie Boogie takes 75% less damage from enemies who are Scared. In addition, enemies who are Scared while already Scared gain 5 stacks of Fatigue.

The damage reduction is reduced against enemies above level X."

:red_circle: Red Skill - Unfair Play

  • Damage reduction increased to 35%
  • Maximum HP increase from Snake Eyes increased by 400%
  • Bonus Max HP increased by 75%
  • Bonus Skill Power increased by 50%

"Enemies deal 35% less damage while Scared.

When Snake Eyes succeeds on a roll to damage an enemy, Oogie Boogie gains X increased maximum HP for the rest of the wave.

The damage reduction is less effective against enemies above level X."


Friend Campaign Disks

Disk #1 - Randall Boggs

  • Current Level Effect: Armor removed, boosts Reality instead
  • Added Level Effect: +X Basic Damage
  • Current Star Effect: Slow effect now affects both Movement and Attack Speeds, and now Slows for 15% (+15% per additional star).

Disk #2 - Captain Hook

  • Current Star Effect: Skill Power boost per hit of Snake Eyes increased to 5% (+5% per additional star), and maximum Skill Power boost increased to 300%.
  • Added Star Effect: Snake Eyes now also removes Armor equal to 20% (+20% per additional star) of the amount of Reality removed.

Nice work on Oogie Boogie! You think you can whip up a refresh for Li Shang? His boosts don’t feel very supportive.

He doesn’t need one.
With red, he gives all allies permanent armor, reality, and BD buffs.

Li Shang can use some stat buffs at this point. But his skillset is for sure one of the best

Yeah, there are a bunch of heroes who could use stat boosts but don’t really need full-on Refreshes (Li Shang, Joy, Anger, Belle, Timon & Pumbaa, for example).

Belle could quite literally do normal damage with active and be kind of fine lol

New Refresh Concept: Kida

Kida just straight-up doesn’t work, and I blame that on a lot of redundancy in her kit. She feels bare-bones, and even pumping up her numbers won’t really save her. Guess what, boys and girls–it’s rework time!


The Refresh

Base Stats

  • Basic damage increased by 125%
  • Skill power increased by 75%
  • HP increased by 125%
  • Base attack speed increased by 20%
  • Base movement speed increased by 25%

Skills

:white_circle: White Skill - Crystal Heal

  • Increased heal amount by 250%
  • Damage increased by 150%
  • Duration reduced to 8 seconds
  • Kida is now Invincible while in Crystal Form, instead of raising Armor
  • New effect: Kida heals for 100% of the Fantastic damage dealt
  • New effect: Kida gains Attack Speed for the duration
  • New effect: This ability can only be used below 35% HP

"Kida assumes a Crystal Form, instantly healing herself for X HP. Kida becomes Invincible and she deals X bonus Fantastic damage with each basic attack for 8 seconds, healing for 100% of this bonus damage dealt. Kida can only enter Crystal Form while below 35% HP.

While in Crystal Form, Kida’s Attack Speed is increased by 100% and she cannot use any other abilities."

  • Entirely reworked and combined with the old effects of Skillful Swipe
  • Spear Block healing increased by 200%
  • Skillful Swipe damage increased by 125%

"Once every 7 seconds, Kida blocks an attack and heals herself for X HP before she Counters, dealing X Normal damage twice to enemies in melee range and removing X Armor from them for the rest of the wave.

Kida also passively gains X Armor."

  • Energy pulse now occurs every 3 seconds
  • New effect: Kida deals increased damage at maximum Energy

"Kida and her allies gain 150 Energy every 3 seconds. When Kida has 1000 Energy or more and is not in Crystal Form, her basic attacks also deal 10% of the affected enemies’ maximum HP in True damage.

The amount of energy gained is less effective on allies above level X."

:red_circle: Red Skill - Mask of the Warrior

  • Effects combined, just like the abilities they boost
  • Spear Block basic attack bonus can now stack
  • Skillful Swipe Reality removal increased by 50%
  • New effect: Kida’s critical hits reduce the cooldowns of Spear Block and Skillful Swipe by 1 second
  • Bonus maximum HP increased by 50%
  • Bonus Basic Damage increased by 100%

"Spear Block deals X increased damage and now also removes X Reality, and Kida gains X Basic Damage for the rest of the wave each time it activates.

Each time Kida deals a critical hit, the cooldowns of Spear Block and Skillful Swipe are reduced by 1 second."


Friend Campaign Disks

Disk #1 - Hercules

  • Current Level Effect: Basic Damage bonus increased by 100% and no longer requires Crystal Heal to be active
  • Current Level Effect: Armor bonus increased by 150%
  • Current Star Effect: Duration extension reduced to 1 (+1 per additional star) seconds
  • Added Star Effect: Kida bursts with energy after her Crystal Form ends, causing enemies to take 10% (+10% per additional star) of the damage prevented by Crystal Heal.

Disk #2 - Jasmine

  • Current Level Effect: Bonus Basic Damage increased by 60% and now applies to Kida and her allies
  • Current Star Effect: Attack Speed bonus now also applies to Kida

Could you make a concept for Hook next? It bugs me that his pirate ship doesn’t get to be used in his moveset.

That’s not what refreshes are about :neutral_face:

Refreshes buff a character’s skillset not make completely new skills with completely new animations

Not to mention Hook’s ship isn’t very important to his character–it’s just a ship like any other.

The Black Pearl is featured in Jack Sparrow’s skillset because it’s an integral part of his character in what the Peal represents for him–freedom and wanderlust.

Hook’s ship is merely a tool. Jack’s ship is an ideal and a symbol.

New Refresh Concept: Captain Hook

Speaking of Captain Hook, however, he could use some help, as well. Sap and Study are his only real tricks, and that won’t cut it for a Control hero in these trying times. He just needs some beefier numbers and some pizzazz added to his skills, and voila! This maniacal pirate will be terrorizing the seas once more!

  • Captain Hook’s badges have been adjusted to give him 80% Evasion at most Red and Yellow ranks.

Base Stats

  • Basic damage increased by 150%
  • Skill power increased by 100%

Hook also blocks all enemy projectiles while this ability is being channeled."

  • New effect: Knocks back and Snares affected enemies

  • Removed old Hooked effect, since it is now redundant
  • Basic Damage and Armor removal increased by 300%
  • New effect: Debuffs and disables applied to Studied enemies last 100% longer
  • Bonus stats increased by 50%

"Enemies Sapped from any source have their Basic Damage reduced by X and their Armor reduced by X.

Any debuff or disable applied to a Studied enemy has its duration increased by 100%."


Friend Campaign Disks

Disk #1 - Hector Barbossa

  • Current Level Effect: Basic Damage bonus increased by 100%
  • Current Level Effect: Skill Power bonus increased by 50%
  • Current Star Effect: Sap duration increased to 2 (+2 per additional star) seconds.
  • Added Star Effect: Sap reduces all Energy gained by 55% (+5% per additional star).
  • Added Star Effect: This disk bypasses all effects at the start of battle that would prevent its application, and immediately removes such effects.

Disk #2 - Peter Pan

  • Current Level Effect: Removed
  • New Level Effect: +X Skill Power
  • New Level Effect: Hook heals for X HP every second per Sapped enemy
  • Current Star Effect: Removed
  • New Star Effect: While channeling Cold Steel, Hook heals himself for 15% (+15% per additional star) damage dealt.
  • New Star Effect: Allies now also gain 15% (+15% per additional star) of the stolen Energy gained from A Pirate’s Life.
