It says that the rewards of contests give them but it does not say anything about the cosmetic crates and that is why it implies that it may be a Bug

It’s not.
All borders say they’re unlocked from contests (except the ones you buy in the collection shop), cause that’s how you got them before cosmetic crates. You can just tap on any random border you don’t have

Well I still find it strange how it seems like they’re ranked (Gold ← Silver ← Bronze), as if you’re supposed to earn those borders

Now take a look at the debuff spam!

This happens with maxed RS Animal and Poca (Ki).
