I can’t watch ep 3 until my brother gets home, which is in 6&1/2 hours…
Also saw Big Shot episode 5 now. Some drama there…
Big shot episode 5
The love drama was real this episode and already started when Emma and Lukas were at the Corn’s house and Marvin entered and Lucas went to hide in a closet (A stupid action really…)
Then there was the whole deal between Marvin and the drama teacher, which was kinda cringing… and of course the deal with Holy and hear Godson (the ‘hot teacher’)
But there were also serious issues, with the Grusinsky’s and how the father got arrested and how it affected both Louise and Lukas. So I hope they both will be okay, and yeah we will see what the father has done. He gives me a feeling he is actually guitly…
HSMTMTS S2 ep 1
Spoilers
Really nice continuation and bringing us back from nearly right after the first season. That last one from the first season had many cliffhangers. We already knew a lot about what was going to happen with the episode, but it is setting up some good stuff. I like how the focus is shifting more towards the ‘minor’ characters like Kourtney, Gina, Big Red, Ashlyn, Carlos, and Seb.
HSM TMTS S2 Episode 1
Also saw this now! Very cool episode, although it had some bit cringe moments. I really felt for Nini when she was about to tell Ricky she would leave for Denver and he started playing a whole song…
And then at the end… Oh gosh that wasn’t great…
Yeah I’m very much looking forward to see how these characters develop. I also think it’s logical that the more main attention of the first season go a little bit more to the back this season. Although we are not sure how everything will end up going in the whole season.
Bad Batch episode 3 - reacting to Rex
Yeah the connections are really great to see in motion. It really sets the tone of the empire right, but also the confusion of everyone arround who needs to adapt!
I have also seen/heard theories that Omega might be a cool brigde towards events in The Mandalorian and Rise of Skywalker (concerning cloning), so we will see how that will play out.
And we are back people!
Just watched Bad Batch episode 4!
Spoilers Bad Batch
Great episode with Fennec Shand! She has a sinister and mysterious interance in the series. I hope and do expect to see more of her!
Of course we further saw Hunter protecting Omega, which made for a great action sequence!
Also loved the dynamic between Tech and Wrecker worling on the ship
Just edit this post for my comments on HSM TMTS Season 2 eps 2 and Big Shot eps 5
HSM TMTS S2 Episode 2
Quite a nice episode, where they quite nicely spread all the screen time between all characters. We met a new girl that seems to make some drama arround, and probably has ties with North High.
Also got the casting for the play this time, with a suprise Belle actually. I thought Gina would become Belle, but turned out to be Ashley, so that’s kinda cool and suprising. From the trailers we already knew Carlos as Lumiere and Ricky as Beast and now we also now the rest. Of that I do like E.J. as Gaston
The sentiment of the episode was also great, with the idea that the audition was also a moment to support each other. In the way Ricky helped Big Red get up again (in which I also kind of have the feeling Big Red did it on purpose so that Ricky could show his helpfull side).
And of course the comment of Miss Jenn was spot on, when she talked to the girl that we just met in this episode.
Big Shot episode 5
Wow let me start by telling that the coach of the opposing team was really a jerk in every way. Sport is serious in the US I think (more than it is in Europe at least), but this is going against all that is good in sportsmanship…
I did love how Holly stepped up in this episode and made the right call in the positions (which I do not know anything about, but still). Also shows Marvin can be a bit stubborn sometimes. This is also shown in his postponement of opening the box his father left him.
We also saw an interesting dynamic between Louise and Destiny. I’m glad they came together in the end.
The trailer for The Mysterious Benedict Society came out and I do not have high hopes for it. Some of the casting I feel is personally not that great and the gave away one of the big twists right in the trailer. This is one of my favorite book series so I hope they do it justice.
Yeah. I love the books as well and I want it to be good. I agree with a lot of what you have said. Looking forward to talking about it!
Every time I see these I read it as “how I shake my tomatoes” and “house my tomatoes” or something similar usually with tomatoes
(What actually is it please)
I like others to start the talk about the shows, and so here are some thoughts.
HSM TMTS S2 Episode 2
Yeah! Oh boy I do not like that girl. She was clearly going for Belle cause she was kind of DisneyBounding, which I loved the reference to both with her outfit and Ashlyn talking about it. I wonder what drama is going to occur with her.
I was sad when she expected potts and thought she was going to be typecasted. She deserved and earned better. I love that Kourtney got it instead cause I am against typecasting and just cause she is amazing, which if you are curious about what it is and what it means I would gladly talk about it.
Ashlyn is my favorite character and actually I called almost every single casting choice and I love every single one. I think that Seb should have been LeFou, but I also love that Big Red will be in the show. I knew Gina was gonna be Babette because of her dance skills and the offer to choreograph the show.
I loved that. That blonde freshman was put in her place and I cannot wait to see Gina come for her cause I need a showdown between them.
High School Musical The Musical The Series
I am also continuing to love and enjoy Bad Batch and Big Shot as well.
In the remake it was Plumette, right?
my friend was in BatB for his school play and I was helping him because I knew all the songs, and I got confused by that.
I like Plumette better.
They are the same character different name.
Also, I edited my original thoughts to include something on typecasting, which I am against so if that is something that interests others we can start a DM to discuss that in detail.
High School Musical, The Muscial, The Series Season 2, Episode 2 (HSM TMTS for short)
I could see her as Potts, but maybe that is exactly what typecasting is, idk. But anyway, I loved that it was a suprise in the end. That is something far more enjoyable to watch than something that is way too predictable
And yes I would like to hear more on what typecasting actually is.
Ooh yes would love to see that. Gina could put her in her place, totally!
For now here is the Google definition. I have actually been typecasted before, so I know how it feels. It can be done for many different things.
Oh I think I get it, cause Ashlyn actually believed herself that she would be typecasted, cause of the role she played in the first musical.
Yeah kinds stinks indeed how that works, cause the fun of acting I think is that you can place yourself is a whole lot of different people.
Exactly. She thought she would play the motherly or female mentor kind of character who can be a bit funny. It is a good and bad thing at the same time though.
For example I have gotten many roles because of my small height and size. While this is not always a bad thing, you need and should be able to play roles that would challenge you and things like that.
One time it was great when I was Little Red Riding Hood in Into the Woods.
One time it was bad was when I was once again the child character in Our Town, which was a really small role. A lot of who was carrying the show, so the leads, were not that talented and it ended up being not that great. I think it would have been better if I was cast as another role that was more challenging due to my talent, experience, and other things, which would have most likely been the character Emily.
Yeah, I agree with the typecasting thing. That’s why I appreciate how some actors nowadays, like Tom Holland are doing tons of different styles of acting so they avoid being specifically known as one character or one way.
Obviously, we love him as Spidey and Ian Lightfoot but we know he can play tons of other types of roles that aren’t just the young optimistic kid archetype. Nice discussion point honestly.
That is something you do regardless actually and they are not really styles but instead techniques that can be combined together. Every actor has their own style that they develop and they are supposed to be used for any role. You cannot control typecasting cause it is the directors and those that cast that ultimately make the choices.
Also true, but more actors have been trying to get work that highlights all aspects of their acting ability to prevent that. The danger especially with these big blockbuster movies is that you get tied to the character. You literally aren’t playing them in the eyes of fans, you are them.
Basically, the character is famous, not the actor. Anthony Mackie explained it well. He said that Falcon is the movie star, not himself. Not his fault. He’s trying his absolute best to do other roles that show how good of a actor he is, but it is what it is. To the world, he really is Falcon. Hundreds of other examples of this out there too. The video where he said actually has a lot to do with this conversation. I may share it elsewhere but in this thread is probably not the right place.
I thought this sounded familiar
Then I remembered
Honestly, that’s one of the best videos I’ve ever seen. His intelligence and accuracy makes him one of the best actors nowadays. That entire video is basically him speaking facts for like 4 minutes straight. What an absolutely brilliant guy. F&TWS definitely highlighted his amazing acting.
