It depends though. Deadpool, specifically more Deadpool 2 worked perfectly with the fourth wall breaking stuff. You just have to know how to write for a self aware character.
Not saying Tamatoa is Deadpool, but he is just as amazing and iconic as him. What if Ryan Reynolds voiced Tamatoa??? Oooohhh
