Why isn’t Jack Skellington the new hero for this month? It would make so much more sense than some dumb character from one of their worst movies. It is the 25th anniversary of The Nightmare Before Christmas. I am truly disappointed in Disney.

OK, there may well be more heroes this month than just Miguel, and it would be great if Jack turns out to be one of them, but they could also release him for Christmas because his movie was about both holidays
Also Coco was brilliant and the Day of the Dead is also in October to my knowledge so he has just as much right to be here as Jack

Well, the events of Coco happens to revolve in Dia de los Muertos, which is Day of the Dead. Usually, “dead” is relative to Halloween, which happens in October, this month is October. That’s why they added Miguel, who is a character of Coco.
Hades, Ursula and Scar
They are villains. Villains are bad. Examples of bad characters are witches, monsters, etc. Monsters appear during Halloween. Halloween happens in October. This month is October. This month is the perfect opportunity to introduce the villains in the game.

I’m going to stop you right there though - we have no true confirmation of the villains coming this October or even being playable characters whenever they do come. And similarly Jack isn’t completely deconfirmed from coming this October either - I don’t seem to recall anyone assuming Hiro and Baymax were coming in September, the only one from their update dataminers seemed to know about beforehand was Moana and she had been hovering in the “coming soon” speculation for months at that stage.
So basically, don’t rule anything out, they could still surprise us on this. And if Jack isn’t here for Halloween, hey, there’s always Christmas.
In fact, the original poster said this year was the 25th anniversary of Nightmare before Christmas, right? Wouldn’t the film have come out around Christmas time? I think it might actually be more likely they’ll do a big update for Nightmare around December
