I would just really hoped that at least 100 heroes amount of 5 levels of Patch Essence were given freely in a timeframe of like 9 months. We are very far from that.
Besides, considering there are 5 (and likely even will be 10 tiers) of Patch Essence, I am kind of worried how the higher ones will be given (especially since we will need more of them).
Probably a discussion for another thread, but there must be some optimisation to be had if that’s the case. I don’t spend money on DH, and I’ve got 44 Y21 and Y20 heroes with around half of them fully kitted-out upgrading a single hero to Yellow shouldn’t be a problem for most active players
I´d say it´s the matter of… uhm experiencing the various badges to a degree.
You should start a new account on s25. Then you can see how little resources we get (even less than other servers since s25 is newest). For players who have been playing a while, it’s easy to get characters to yellow because we’ve accumulated resources and other higher level characters which allow even more accumulation of resources from higher tiers/rewards.
@Loutre thinking about the franchise hero deals, maybe the team could add like 20 Patch Essence there?
It has quite decent amount of all stuff for the price, truly missing only mod power and patch essence to have all.
Why not change it so it makes it just a LITTLE less hard to level up heroes. I’m not saying it shouldn’t take a while, but maybe a little less time could make the game more enjoyable!
Also one thing I´ve noticed… it asks us to get 15 1st patch levels on heroes to be able to do a 2nd one… that´s 750 patch essence.
If not mistaken, 20 x 30 isn´t even 750, meaning F2P unlock of patch level 2 is literally impossible… even with the medal 50 ones.
What I remember is going for maximum effort, it took me months to earn 400,000 stamina, which was good for one Y0 upgrade only.
I stopped trying after that.
To relate that to Patch if Y10 is the required standard, it could be a year before I have a Y10, during which I miss out on at least 12 patches.
I tried my Alladin team this morning, they could only clear the very lowest patch, not even worth the effort.
We have 49 franchises currently in the game. First way the go PB! That is so much content from our favorite movies/series
@Loutre A lot of the concern in this thread revolves around people not being clear how the progression system will work. It might turn out that you need minimal resources / effort to get 80-90% of the value of the patch system. It would be great if we had more info.
It is not clear at the moment whether only the currently active franchises will be patchable. Will a franchise continue to be patchable after it has been featured at least once? I presume it is YES. Can you please confirm?
Another thing that is not clear - patch tiers. I presume we will hit tier 2 when all franchises have been featured and that tier 2 essence will be used to unlock the second abilities for each hero. Given how many franchises we have, this is probably at least 15 months from now.
The 1st tier abilities do not show what they give when they are upgraded and what it would cost to be upgraded. This means we don’t know whether its better to use the patch essence to upgrade or to unlock another patch ability on a different hero and plan our progression based on the amount of patch essence we expect to get overall. Can you give us detailed costs & upgrade values or is the team still balancing those? If e have those we can actually theory-craft how F2P / P2W the feature is and dispel any concerns.
It is not clear how much essence we will be able to earn as F2P players. Are there limits on how many times we can do the trials monthly? Are there double drop items or events planned? Will the current double trial events or trial resets going to affect it? If not, then we will have (600-660)*15 = 9000-9900 patch essence before we hit Tier 2.
The approach you’ve chosen is nice, where you don’t reveal the abilities up-front. It gives PB team time to think what abilities to put in the next featured franchises based on how the meta is evolving.
Overall I think people are worrying prematurely but its due to the limited information we have. Can the team please try to fix that and provide the above info?
With the info & presumptions we have so far it is clear that without buying patch essence and by doing only up to Stage 5 (which is pretty easy) by the time Tier 2 abilities are unlocked (15 months from now) we will have 9000 patch essence which is enough to choose: do we unlock all hero abilities at level 1-2 or do we focus on N heroes and level their abilities to Rank 5. This is a great choice to make, it is similar to choosing which disks to get to 5 stars, but we need the info what it would cost to upgrade to Rank 5. We need to know how many N is to not be worried. If it is at least 20-30 then we should not have anything to worry about as it generally matches how many maxed out heroes a F2P player can maintain.
The more I think about this system, the more I like it. We just need to know the details to dispel concerns and plan appropriately.
Another question to the ones above:
It is not clear how many heroes we need patched at level X to be able to patch heroes to X + 1. This is directly related to us knowing how we can spend our patch essence. It also is related to how many resources we need to spend, as we need to get that many heroes to R10 which might be nothing for S1 but its definitely costly for S25.
But we do know that… tap on patch power: 1. You need 15 heroes patched!
That is the problem - in the month we still won´t have enough to get even a single patch level 2 freely. Thus - why even bother doing anything rn?
Are we sure about that? I thought that is the maximum bonus you get, not specifically how many heroes you need to have to upgrade to patch level 2.
Even if it’s so, its definitely not explained well in the interface. Patch is such a complex feature, it needs at least 5 info pages full of details, not 1 vague.
My perception is that the Patch Level of individual heroes can be equal or lower than the Patch Power.
And for the Patch Power to increase you need to Patch 15 heroes. It´s not completely alien to do something like that for PB so…
That it is stupid? Yes, since you can´t just patch heroes you want, you MUST patch 15. And even then won´t have the resources to do so in a month FREELY.
Can the Patch trial level that we cleared/completed to appear on top so we don’t have to scroll down to find it EVERY DAY? The same thing could be applied to trial event too
It is annoying to do it…
Dann verliert ihr noch mehr Spieler in diesem Spiel und verdient noch weniger
There is already a suggestion above to just sort trials from hardest to easiest. It makes a lot of sense because given how trial chances are not lost on failure, everyone should be trying to do them from the hardest to the easiest, not vice versa.
So are most people saying that Patching is just for whales? Should F2P and minnows just forget Patches even exist?
I would have loved to have seen all of the time invested in rolling out new features such as the Patches, spent on things that need to be done - refreshes, QoL fixes, bugs, balances, etc.
When old heroes are refreshed that breaks all of the City Watch and Friendship campaigns because now those old heroes which were balanced vs players are now completely out of whack and turns ‘easy’ into ‘near impossible (unless max hero)’.
When will “Patched” hero opponents start appearing in City Watch and Friendship campaigns? At that point, we might as well give up since every new hero or refreshed old hero breaks any sort of balance that might have ever existed.
They were terrible.
Now they are finally useable and good. PB did good job here.
I was talking about balance in friendship campaigns where 1 day, you could defeat your opponents then the next day after refresh, you’re stuck and you can’t advanced. That “balance” was terrible, but now it’s worse.
And then in City Watch where a 1M power Baymax was one thing to fight, then next day the same 1M power Baymax was much more powerful. The power points for these refreshed heroes didn’t increase relative to their actual power increasing, which messes up whatever calculation is done by friendship and City Watch battles.
Simply, don’t expect orange hero defeat red ranked enemies and so on, and neither expect that power-ups will do all the job, they barely help.
