Philoctetes (Hercules)
Largely retooled from my now-defunct Lilo & Nani concept. Yayyy…recycling…
With a training regimen as fiery as his temper, the great teacher of heroes, Philoctetes (better known as Phil), whips his allies into shape to pulverize their foes!
Role: Support
Position: Middle
Trial Team: Blue
“Yeah, I had a dream once. I dreamed I was gonna train the greatest hero there ever was–so great, the gods’d hang a picture of him in the stars. All across the sky! And people would say, ‘That’s Phil’s boy. That’s right.’…”
Basic Animations
Entrance: A pile of weapons, armor, shields, and other martial gear sits on the battlefield. Phil struts into battle, hands on hips, with an expression of smug indifference, taking position beside the weapons pile. Eyeing his teammates and the enemy team, Phil’s face droops, he rolls his eyes in a show of unimpressed-ness, rolls up his…non-sleeves?, and starts barking orders.
Basic Attack: Phil leaps into the air, jabbing a pointed finger repeatedly at the enemy team with a yell.
Victory: An image of Hercules’ constellation appears at the top of the screen. Phil turns and sees it, his expression quickly turning into one of utmost pride in his allies.
Defeat: Phil hops in place, shoots his arms out in a gesture of furious bargaining, and then grabs his head in pure frustration. Shouting all the while. It’s what he does.
Skills
White Skill: One Last Hope
- Passive: Phil does not have a regular basic attack. Instead, he yells at the ally with the highest Basic Damage to make an additional basic attack, grants that ally X (determined by Basic Damage) Basic Damage for the attack, and Energizes them for 5 seconds. Allies Energized in this way gain 70 additional Energy each time they hit with basic attacks.
-
Active: Phil causes all enemies to become Sapped for 14 seconds. Enemies Sapped by this ability generate 75% less Energy from all sources. The Sap has a chance to fail against enemies above level X.
– As long as any enemy is Sapped by this ability, Phil’s allies generate 25% additional Energy from all sources. This effect is reduced on allies above level X. - Animation: Phil grabs a longspear from the weapon pile, waves it wildly at the enemy team, and shouts an order to charge!
Green Skill: Rule Number 96 - Aim! ()
- Phil fires an arrow at the nearest enemy, dealing X (determined by Basic Damage) Normal damage, knocking the target back, and Marking them for 6 seconds. Marked enemies take 15% increased damage, deal 25% reduced damage, and become the primary target of all allies for the duration. The Mark has a chance to fail against enemies above level X.
- Animation: Phil points impatiently at the nearest enemy before picking up a bow and arrow from the weapon pile and quickly firing at the target. He then gestures at his successful attack for his allies to follow up.
Blue Skill: I Got Yer Heel Right Here! ()
- Phil charges at the enemy with the highest Skill Power, headbutting them for X (determined by Skill Power) Normal damage, reducing their Purple Skill levels by 30, and increasing all allies’ Purple Skill levels by 30. The Purple Skill reduction has a chance to fail against enemies above level X.
- Animation: Phil turns red with anger, scraping his hooves on the ground, before rushing recklessly at the target and performing a brutal flying headbutt. Phil then returns to the weapons pile before turning back to the enemy with a satisfied/angry HAH!
Purple Skill: Willing to Go the Distance
- While under the effects of One Last Hope, allies also gain Courage for the duration. Courage increases the Energy gained from taking damage by 80%. This effect is reduced on allies above level X.
Red Skill: The Legendary Instructor
- When an ally gains extra Energy due to Energize or Courage, they also healed for X (determined by Skill Power) HP and have 2 random debuffs Cleansed from them. This effect cannot be triggered more than once per second.
- Allies gain 85% Attack Speed while Energized. This effect is reduced on allies above level X.

Disk #1 - "Reviewing the Basics"
Phil’s proud of all the progress Hercules has made in his hero career, but being new to the City, he wants to get his reputation as the great hero instructor spread far and wide. Wanting to make as big an impact on the hero scene as possible, Phil asks Hercules if there are any prospective heroes around who…well, they’re tryin’, but they’re just not turning out to be the best heroes they could be. If Phil can take a band of goofballs and whip them into bona fide world-saving heroes–like he did with Herc–then that’d really get the ball rolling! Happy to have his trainer in town, and not at all opposed to the idea of helping other heroes reach their full potential, Hercules takes Phil around the City to meet some promising, but underperforming, candidates.

Disk #2 - "Dealt a Bad Hand"
Out of nowhere, Phil finds himself surrounded by Cards, holding him at spear-point. The Queen of Hearts makes her grand appearance, declaring that the great hero instructor is hereby ordered to render his services to train the Queen of Hearts’ Card Soldiers. When Phil tries to protest, he is informed that failure to comply will result in him entering a long-distance relationship with his head, and unable to think of a retort or any way to escape the situation, Phil is dejectedly led to the Queen’s court, positioned pompously and inconveniently in the middle of the City’s southern highway. There, Phil meets a few other heroes who have been railroaded into the Queen of Hearts’ service. Over the course of the next few days, Phil comes up with a daring plan that will allow them to break free from the Court while pretending to serve the Queen. And it just might involve a “training exercise mishap”…
