True Men(?) of Culture(?) - Honest John & Gideon (Likely Concept)

Honest John & Gideon (Pinocchio)
Largely retooled from my now-defunct Esmeralda concept! What fun!

Keeping an eye out for the perfect sucker, Honest John & Gideon charm and wile their way through life and on the battlefield!
Role: Control
Position: Front
Trial Team: Red

“Listen…if we play our cards right, we’ll be on Easy Street or my name isn’t Honest John!”

HonestJohn&Gideon

Basic Animations

Entrance: Honest John struts on-screen importantly while idly twirling his cane. Gideon gambols happily behind him, dragging his giant mallet on the ground. Upon reaching their frontline position, Honest John halts Gideon, eyeing the enemy team with a predatory sneer.

Basic Attack: While above 50% HP, Honest John shouts merrily and points his cane skywards, directing Gideon to rush to an enemy and smack them over the head with the mallet. When Honest John & Gideon reach 50% HP the first time, for the rest of the wave, a distressed and slightly panicked Honest John also rushes an enemy and pelts them with his cane.

Victory: Honest John, looking shocked, looks to Gideon to confirm their victory, to which Gideon nods eagerly.

Defeat: Both cane and mallet get knocked out of Honest John’s and Gideon’s hands. Gideon looks up at a livid Honest John pathetically, whereupon Honest John slaps him and huffs a self-important huff.

Skills

:white_circle: White Skill: An Actor’s Life For Me! (:fist:)

  • Passive: While above 50% HP, Honest John himself does not have a basic attack–instead, he raises his cane and orders Gideon to attack for normal basic attack damage. When the pair reaches 50% HP, for the rest of the wave, Honest John also attacks enemies in melee range for X (determined by Basic Damage) Normal Damage.
  • Active: Honest John and Gideon Charm the 3 furthest enemies for 10 seconds. This charm cannot be dodged or reduced by Tenacity, and has a chance to fail against enemies above level X.
    – When Honest John & Gideon fall below 50% HP, for the rest of the wave, enemies Charmed by this ability also gain X (determined by Basic Damage) Basic Damage and 75% Attack Speed.
  • Animation: Honest John and Gideon stand side-by-side and do a little dance routine until Gideon hiccups and Honest John bonks him on the head with his cane.

:green_circle: Green Skill: Finding the Right Sucker

  • At the beginning of each wave, the player can choose an enemy to be Marked by Honest John & Gideon. While Marked, the target takes 15% increased damage, deals 25% reduced damage, and becomes the primary target of all allies for the duration. The Mark lasts until the target is KO’d, whereupon the player can choose a new target to Mark. While on Auto, Honest John & Gideon will Mark the enemy with the lowest maximum HP. The Mark has a chance to fail against enemies above level X.
  • Animation: Initially, the same as the Entrance animation. When Marking a new target, only Honest John’s predatory sneer is reused.

:large_blue_circle: Blue Skill: Don’t Be Crude! (:fist:)

  • Once every 6 seconds, Honest John & Gideon dodge a melee attack, Charm the target for 6 seconds, and then counterattack for X (determined by Basic Damage) Normal Damage. If the Charm fails for any reason, this counterattack deals triple damage to the target.
    – While below 50% HP, this ability will also Charm the 2 enemies nearest to the target for 6 seconds.
  • Animation: Gideon skillfully sidesteps the attack, but spins out of control, losing hold of his mallet and sending it up in the air. Honest John calmly catches the mallet with his free hand, clocks the enemy over the head with it, and hands it back to Gideon.

:purple_circle: Purple Skill: Going Straight to the Top!

  • Honest John & Gideon gain an additional X (determined by Skill Power) maximum HP.
  • When Honest John & Gideon’s basic attacks or Don’t Be Crude! crit or super crit, they have a 65% chance to also Daze the target for 8 seconds. Dazed enemies cannot use their skills and will use their basic attacks on the nearest character, whether ally or enemy. The Daze chance is reduced against enemies above level X.

:red_circle: Red Skill: A Man of Temptation

  • While below 50% HP, Honest John & Gideon gain X (determined by Skill Power) Damage Negation. Damage Negation reduces all damage received.
  • Enemies Charmed or Dazed by Honest John & Gideon gain 1 stack of Weakness each time they perform a basic attack. Each stack of Weakness increases all damage done to the target by 10% (to a maximum of 5 stacks).
    +X HP
    +X Basic Damage
+X Armor each time an enemy is Charmed or Dazed

Friend Disk Campaigns

:moneybag: Disk #1 - "Are These Taxes…Theft?"
The Sheriff of Nottingham has been trying to collect “taxes” from some of the City’s wealthier citizens for months now, but given their creep-deleting abilities, he’s been reluctant to confront them head-on. That is, until he spies a pair of no-good, shiftless bums that are particularly vulnerable to blackmail: Honest John and Gideon, two hucksters with a rap sheet longer than the Sheriff is tall. With a “friendly” grin and said rap sheet on full display, he manages to bully the petty criminals into his service. While Honest John is incensed that this thieving blowhard has the nerve to push him around, he knows he really can’t do much about it except for go along with being a common thug. Gideon, on the other hand, is just happy to be included.

:clamp: Disk #2 - "Mandatory Fun"
Lock, Shock, & Barrel are getting bored of having no one to play with. No one seems to want to come to their special gallows play-room, either! So, armed with a large bag of gold that has no use to them, they show up to ask Honest John (and Gideon) to help capture some friends for the trio to play with in exchange for the gold! This is very good news, as Honest John is quite experienced in the art of, shall we say…persuading children to believe they’re going to a very fun place. And this play-room stocked with saw blades and pit traps sounds like a very fun(?) place! Honest John has a few ideas that involve the gold inside the bag. Lock and Shock have a few ideas that just involve the bag. Gideon and Barrel, on the other hand, are just happy to be included.

  • Partner: Lock, Shock, & Barrel
  • Allies: Dash, Olaf, Ducky & Bunny
  • Level Up:
    +X Basic Damage
    +X Skill Power
