Uh… that sounds like you are saying heroes are automatically disabled in battles the whole time.
The red skill only helps him synergize better with heroes that may disable enemies (disables include stun, charm, freeze, blind, and silence). These allies include Violet (Ra), Dr. Facilier, Tia Dalma, etc.
Heros who can cause disables are common

I love the new characters! I just think that there are too many Red Team Characters and not enough variety in Blue Team.

I would badge increase has to slow down, and I agree with who ever it was that said they rather have a level increase over badge, new badges are a pain unless they fix the cost of them, but right now it’s to many needs at a to high stamina and gold cost.
I noticed that a lot of heroes at red 3 don’t have much reality until red 5!
I had the opposite problem, often I would activate his white skill and he would still die due to some technicality
Because even with this Nerf will he still outperform, and since all they done is making you have to pair him with the right heroes and this Nerf becomes void you know team synergy they love so much. I seen several players who already done the math to make Randall harder to deal with than before update. Plus even with this Nerf will he still be a problem for many free players who will fall even more behind this new challenge thing will help with that. Sadly.
