Behind the Game - November 22-25

We do plan out friendships fairly far in advance, but the order of which heroes release when does sometimes change. This means that in rare occasions, heroes will release with one or no friendships due to this shift.

We are planning on adding another friendship to Gaston in the future.

So when planning rosters for new heroes, what do you take into consideration when making them, like do you consider movies being made in that year?

Can you give us a few hints/sneak peeks into what’s coming next?

Maybe a certain brave warrior with a dragon?
A teenager in high school who also goes on missions?
A cute and silly old bear?

The designer taking the lead on each hero gets to choose which quote is used.

I guess that is a pretty good idea.
Who chooses who is the lead for a character?

So we see that lots of people are excited to have Kim in the game. The challenge we run into sometimes with characters is that they have different looks in different shows/movies over time. So deciding which version of the character to use can be tricky. This has been the issue with Kim. Because of this, she’s on the back burner for now. We’d like to release her in the future, but there is no set date currently. And it is possible (sorry for the pun) that she doesn’t make it into the game. But we will do our best!

I have another question.

Who drew the loading screen?
It is one of the best images I’ve ever seen drawn for a game. Maybe the best!

Yes, we definitely look at the upcoming movie and TV release schedule when putting together our upcoming heroes. We also look at: what heroes players are asking for in game (especially on the forums), which characters/movies are most popular worldwide, which characters fit a combat oriented RPG the best, and which characters are most technically feasible to create. We also discuss our choices with Disney to make sure they are on the same page.

Okay, Is there a large number of people at the office who actively play the game?

Yes! Most of the studio plays DH regularly. Both because we like it and because we want to see how everyone else reacts to things we add, to find bugs, etc.

So does this mean you know what movies Disney has planned in the future that the public doesn’t even know yet? Like Disney has many “Unnamed Movies” coming out in the next few years but do you know what they are?

Do you take skillset inspiration from other RPGs, including your old DS game??

Short answer: sometimes!

Our art director actually make that painting himself, with a lot of feedback and help from Disney. I’ll pass along your compliments.

We do! Many of us play other mobile RPGs, including our previous games. We also have a lot of fans in the office of console/PC RPGs, board games, and TTRPGs (like Dungeons & Dragons).

Okay, very hesitant to ask this, but I guess I want the brutal truth:

Is it very likely Edna Mode will make an appearance in the game, even as a costume shop keeper or something??
