Sorry to say it, but youâre wrong. Commas cannot separate independent clauses such as those. It should be one of the three alternatives stated.

Though the simplest solution here would be to make the comma a semicolon.

Iâm just stating possible fixes. The word âbecauseâ isnât the only possible word to use. I just think it makes the sentence flow the smoothest when going the subordinate clause route.
And yes, Iâm quite the nitpicker when it comes to correct grammar.

Donât worry, I like my grammar in a particular way too. 
I just say that about the semicolon because to me, it sounds like that was the direction they intended to go in when writing the phrase. The most likely mistake would be that they put a comma where a semicolon was intended.

When quotations are within quotations, there should be a single quotation set: âexampleâ.
So instead of âcan,â it should be âcan.â
Also thatâs a bad pun.
