Server Merge Discussion: December 2019

Do you have any items in your account?

If you’re talking to me, yes. I have some diamonds and chips I’d like to be brought over. I think a few stamina refills too.

Hmm
then I guess it is because of the account’s age

Why’s that matter? It said nothing about a required age.

This is the exact text from the official thread:

“After the merge, some players will have more than one account on the resulting server. Once the merge is complete, players that end up with more than one account on the server due to the merge will be able to consolidate inventory from alternate accounts. Players are not required to merge accounts, and it’s possible to continue with multiple accounts on the same server. If you want to keep multiple accounts as-is, you do not need to take any additional action.”

I’m pretty sure this falls under the category of a single person with multiple accounts on the same server due to the merge.

Account’s age. Not yours

Yes. The accounts age. It doesn’t say it has to be a certain age to qualify for the consolidation. It states that if, because of the merge, anyone has multiple accounts on the same server they can be consolidated. Because of the merge I have multiple accounts on server 2. They should be able to be consolidated.

@Drewman is quite right, there wasn’t any stipulation of the age of the account. Unless some technical limitation is preventing it, which seems unlikely, I don’t see why they can’t do the consolidation.

@Polaris can I get some clarification on this please?

We turn off new account creation when a server merge is announced. For this merge, there was some bug that allowed players to create new accounts across the servers that were planned to be merged. We found people who had created new accounts in November with the sole intent of collecting player appreciation giveaways and coop contest rewards and then consolidating them into their ‘main’ account. Due to this, we are reviewing consolidation requests and reviewing the creation date of the accounts involved in the request.

@polaris there was never any mention of not being able to create new accounts to have merged, and at this point those of us that did so have spent a lot of time and watched a lot of videos that your company was paid for, and now you’re saying that all of this work was in vain and for nothing. If this was going to be a rule, you should have said so from the beginning.

How can I request a consolidation? And, is it required to consolidate if all my stuff is still in my account?

No offense, but so what? That was no bug, we were always allowed to do that. If y’all didn’t want us making accounts that should have been turned off. And if it was a bug, the right thing would have been to let people know what was going on. I would not have wasted my time watching videos (giving you revenue on top of what I spend) if I would have known that it couldn’t be consolidated. But as of right now, I did nothing wrong.

According to the post, anyone with multiple accounts on the same server due to the merge are able to have them consolidated. It doesn’t say anyone with an account older than x days - it says anyone.

I’m sorry I wasn’t clear. New account creation was turned off. There was a bug that allowed some players to create new accounts. Merging those accounts would have been an unfair advantage that not everyone had access to, so new accounts are being denied consolidation requests. We are reviewing each request in more detail than normal, so it is slowing down the processing of these requests.

Last merge no one was allowed to make accounts in the servers that were getting merged

I’m pretty sure everyone had access to them. Anyone that was on the servers that we’re merging. I’ve heard of people on all the servers we just merged with. So if everyone had the same opportunity, it’s on them for not taking advantage.

And talking about an unfair advantage is insane in a game that’s about spending money to get on the leaderboard. Now if this was skill based, I’d agree with you. It at this point, an advantage is part of the game.

@Polaris
So, basically you are saying that someone who created 30 accounts to fill their guild before the merger was announced was able to log on to all of these accounts and get all the same rewards and then has no problem merging these accounts, but someone who created multiple accounts after the merge was announced cannot do the same thing simply because of when the accounts were created?? It’s not like it’s several team level 1 accounts with nothing but free stuff. Actual time and effort was put into leveling these accounts. Countless videos were watched to make this process easier, and you certainly have no issue collecting your money from the advertisers. This merger discussion has been up since the merge was announced, so at any time if there was a bug that you knew some people were able to create accounts you didn’t want them to, it would have been really easy for you to announce that no account created after such and such date would be allowed to be consolidated. Instead you let us spend time, effort and make your company money, only to tell us once it’s too late that it was all for nothing. This is completely ridiculous, and any player appreciation rewards or other free rewards could be collected by any account no matter when it was created. It shouldn’t matter when an account was created, all that should matter is who the account belongs to.

They always seem to forget to mention the things that hurt players

Do you guys remember the time when all of a sudden, we can’t store things in mail box infinitely anymore? If someone hadn’t found out, I doubt we would have known about that

And they wonder why we have trust issues? Really?

P/s: To be honest, I thought about creating a second account the very first time merge happened. Didn’t go through with it because I didn’t want to waste my time and effort
So, while I don’t know hard that is for you guys doing this, I know it’s not easy
 you have my condolence

Unfortunately, we were unaware of this bug until someone requested to consolidate over 70 accounts and we did an investigation.

This was not hidden or underhanded. We were not aware of the bug until after the merge. I have updated the announcement template to let players know new account creation will not be active leading up to the merge.

Easy fix for that: Only allow people to consolidate accounts made by the same google/apple/amazon account. That way there is no way someone can make a ton of alts and you know who’s had primary ownership of it.

To be fair, that’s way too many accounts
Someone really has a lot of free time
