Disney Heroes: Battle Mode Update 1.7.2
Welcome to the Disney Heroes: Battle Mode 1.7.2 Update! This release features new character, Gaston, a significant refresh for Captain Jack Sparrow, plus a number of bug fixes.
Overview
- Gaston from Disney’s Beauty and the Beast joins the battle!
- Captain Jack Sparrow receives a Hero Refresh!
Gaston
Gaston is a back-line control character. He will be available in Diamond Crates on Servers 1-12.
Skills
Wrestling Match
Gaston jumps into the middle of a group of enemies, damaging and stunning them. Gaston then stays in melee range and fights with his fists for the rest of the wave.
Burly and Brawny
Gaston rips open his shirt, stunning or charming nearby enemies.
Five Dozen Eggs
Once per battle, when Gaston reaches 0 HP, he gulps down several eggs to heal himself and become invincible for a short time.
King Pin
Gaston’s stuns last longer if the target is below a certain health percentage.
Hero Refresh
In past updates, we have occasionally buffed older heroes to make them more relevant in the current metagame. For 1.7.2, we’re trying a new twist on this idea called a “Hero Refresh.”
For a Hero Refresh, we’ll choose one hero that we feel is underpowered or underutilized in the game and focus on really revamping their kit. This can include adjustments to hero stats, skills, and even memory disks.
In addition, we will also select a few heroes who compliment the main hero and make smaller adjustments to them. The goal being to ensure the refreshed hero has the team support needed to be a member of fun and useful lineups.
The focus of our first Hero Refresh is none other than Captain Jack Sparrow! The supporting heroes are Captain Hector Barbossa, Rex, and Nick Wilde.
Captain Jack Sparrow
Captain Jack Sparrow has been with Disney Heroes: Battle Mode a while now and we thought it was high time for him to become more competitive in PvP. Captain Jack is a hard hitting frontline hero with a powerful team buff, but is often KO’ed before he really gets to shine. The following changes help him stick around longer in combat, while also honing both his damage dealing and team buffing skills.
Base Stats
- +30% Max HP
- +60% Basic Damage
- +20% Skill Power
Skills
Avast!
Jack calls his ship to fire its cannons at enemies. His ship shoots 10 cannonballs doing damage with each cannonball.
- +65% damage
- +2 Cannonballs fired
Acting Dodgy
Jack dodges a melee attack and counter attacks dealing damage. Jack can only dodge a melee attack once every 7 seconds.
- +25% damage
- Cooldown lowered from 7 to 6 seconds
Pirate Code
When Jack’s first ally is KO’d, Jack salutes his fallen comrade, gaining basic damage for the remainder of the wave. This can only be triggered once per wave.
- +50% basic damage
Hearty Crew
Jack Sparrow grants his allies Basic Damage.
- “Hearty Crew” now also scales off Jack’s skill power, amounting to a ~50% increase at max level in addition to a 15% increase to the level scaling
Captain Jack Sparrow’s Memory Disks
"Pirated Music" from Hector Barbossa
- Increased Max HP per Memory Disk level
- Increased HP healed by “Avast!” per star level
- Was 9% HP healed per star level
- Decreased cooldown for “Acting Dodgy” per star level

Supporting Heroes
Captain Hector Barbossa
Barbossa’s Study abilities - via his “Hold Court” memory disk and “Scan the Horizon” skill - make him a good compliment to Captain Jack Sparrow. Not to mention him being a fellow pirate!
Base Stats
- +55% Max HP
- +30% Basic Damage
- +30% Skill power
- “Scan the Horizon” study duration increased from 6 second to 9 seconds
"Hold Court" Memory Disk (Tia Dalma)
- Increased Basic Damage per memory disk level
- Enemies are studied for an increased duration at the beginning of combat per star level

Rex
As a seriously tanky Tank with a memory disk that reduces damage to Damage heroes, Rex is the perfect hero with whom to pair Captain Jack Sparrow for maximum survivability.
Base Stats
- +65% Max HP
- +25% Basic Damage
- +40% Skill power
- “Mighty Roar” silence duration increased from 4 seconds to 6 seconds
"Ship Shape" Memory Disk (Mike Wazowski)
- Increased Max HP per memory disk level for Damage heroes
- Increased Damage Reduction for Damage heroes per star level

Nick Wilde
Another way to increase Captain Jack Sparrow’s survivability is to pair him with Nick Wilde while using Nick’s “Street Art Shuffle” memory disk. This disk will provide Captain Jack Sparrow with a beefy shield at the beginning of each wave of combat.
Base Stats
- +15% Max HP
- +30% Basic Damage
- +10% Skill power
"Street Art Shuffle" from Judy Hopps
- Increased Max HP per memory disk level
